Some tragic news.

The SS Avalanche sank off the coast of Seattle.

The early reports was that it struck an iceberg and sank.

The "official" report is that it struck a pod of whales and went down.

But the local fishermen tell a different story.

They say it was sunk by something else.

They say it was a monstrous creature living deep below the surface.

A creature few men dare talk about.

An octopus the size of a mountain.

Now everyone chalks it up to the fishermen drinking too much alcohol.

They say its just superstition and myth.

Childish fairy tales.

The locals know better.

This is the kind of dumb guy thing people say when a city wins too much and they lose all perspective. It’s a first round hockey exit, dumbass. I went to work the day after my team narrowly lost the Super Bowl and it was eye-opening what percentage of the office actually cared to the point that it affected their work performance. It wasn’t many. I think we forget sometimes that most people aren’t living and dying with sports results like we are.

edit: now he claims he was being sarcastic. Lol no you weren’t. You were 100% serious. Don’t add lying on top of your unhinged tweet you shot off in an emotional moment. Cmon.

Carrabis is a Barstool expat troll, so that tweet is keeping with their schtick of updating the worst of sports radio for Millennial bros on Twitter. Plus if he cared for accuracy he would know that the seat of power for Bruins fandom isn't Boston but the South Shore suburbs, so take it to Duxbury or Weymouth or something.

Hypothesis:

  • Toronno wins tonight -> Boston wins tomorrow 100%.
  • Leafs lose tonight & Boston wins tomorrow -> Leafs win game 7.
  • Leafs lose tonight & Boston loses tomorrow -> Leafs lose game 7.

There's just no way the Leafs end the drought and avoid Boston in the same postseason. Hockey law won't allow it.

This is why I don't bet on sports. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, crazy game. Bruins fans don't fret; after Tampa's spectacular meltdown in 2019 they turned around and won back to back cups. So the rest of us have that to look forward too....

73, 77, 81, 83, 90, 06

29, 30, 31, 36, 39, 44, 61, 62, 65, 66, 67, 96, 10

Difference was Tampa didn't leave the 2019 playoffs with cap issues and an aging core staring them in the face. They still had some time with that team to turn it around and they made the most of it.

Boston feels like this was their last chance. And they acted like it. This was the "all in" season.

Yeah according this guy the Bruins have the worst prospect pool in the NHL.

The Bruins will be good again next year, but they've been "old" for a while now. Eventually that'll fall off a cliff. The 2020 Lightning were still relatively young and got the Kucherov cap-circumvention bump (or was that 2021? I can't keep track of things anymore), though I maintain that if the Blue Jackets had found a goal in the 5 overtime game in the bubble they would've eliminated the Lightning again, but every cup winning team seems to have one or a dozen Sliding Doors brushes with death so can't really hold that against them.

Kucherov's LTIR stint was 2021.  In 2020 they were without Stamkos save for a few shifts in one of the Finals games.

2019 was such a blessing in disguise for the Lightning. Entirely possible they don't get the next two without the harsh lessons that series gave them.

Delighted that the Kraken, playing entirely with house money, are getting some playoff excitement to revel in.  They're a very solid team with a good mix on the roster who definitely outkick their coverage by sheer competitive spirit and a hearty dollop of luck.

He is a Pens fan, but like...how do you not rip into the Bruins with everything you have for this catastrophic meltdown if you're a sports :censored:poster?

Most of the famous Boston heartbreaks had some element of flukiness to it. The Bruins are specialists at the true choke, totally melting down on their own with no cosmic oddities to blame. (The Revs I guess are like that too, even followed this exact season-vs-playoffs blueprint two years ago, but a single game is less bad and only about 60 of us paid attention to both.)

Too much chaos is too much of a good thing.

We haven't had a chalk Cup Final since 2001. God forbid ONE year we don't get chaos overload.

The higher seed won 5 out of the 7 completed series. The Devils can make that 6/8 tonight, but even if the Rangers win that's still a coin toss series. There were only two upsets. It's already one of the least chaotic first rounds we've ever had.

Because :censored: all stupid never gets old...

For the record, this was either the graphics person was going for the empty net graphic, loaded the goal graphic by accident, and it couldn't correct it before the director called for it. Or...the graphics person was loading up the goal graphic just in case Florida scored and it accidentally got on air.  Could have been a matter of that particular graphic still being in program instead of preview. Either way, it's a common mistake and it's one I have made myself many times. Things can get really hectic in the production truck. There's nothing to see here.
