Imma need everyone to just quit it with the _____skins thing at this point. (And seriously, "Pigskins"? Ain't no grown man football team finna wanna be called that!)

I can just about guarantee this new guy is gonna dig a deep well to find a suitable and sustainable name...and hopefully one that rolls off the tongue well, and also isn't too stereotypically D.C. (And hopefully that one jack who went and trademarked all those nicknames doesn't get any more wise ideas...or anyone else tries that, for that matter.) I think the best idea they could have had also got trademarked (copyrighted?) by that same jack (Warthogs), so this next endeavor is gonna be bery bery interesting...

I can guarantee that the team is just another item in his portfolio, and he'll check out after the initial period of shaking hands and kissing babies.

If the financial numbers indicate a rebrand will be profitable then he may appoint someone to run that, but from a "passion" standpoint, I guarantee he really doesn't care.

I think it would be better for Washington to stick with Commanders at this point, feels like a really big ask to get the public to remember and commit to a new nickname for the 3rd time. The name "Commanders" has never really been the issue anyway, it's really just the uniforms that make it stink. I could get on a board with a visual rebrand that commits more to the visual tradition of the team, but the name is not unsalvageable.

I agree that we passed the point where the team could be called anything with the 'skins suffix. I think if the team had been more proactive and changed the name before essentially being forced to, Pigskins would have been the perfect choice. References classic football imagery, the team's hog fans, and is close enough to the old name that most people would've accepted it.

Considering all the names in pro sports, why would players care at all about being a Pigskin? We've got 2 different teams called the Sox, the Nets, the Magic, the Wild, the Kraken, etc.

"Pigskins" is the type of name that a single-A baseball team would use for a promotional night. It's unbecoming of an NFL franchise. And don't even get me started on the people who want the Washington Football Team non-name back.

Commanders is a decent name. Probably not the greatest name they could have come up with, but also not the problem. It's the logos and uniforms that need a do-over more than the name.

In a nod to the new ownership and the immense amount of paperwork generated in the District, we are excited to present to you the Washington Processors.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

Man, Warthogs would’ve been such a perfect name, with opportunities for lots of fun branding.

Washington Football Team is probably their best option.

I never had an issue with Washington Football Team, and I actually liked it because it was one the nose (of course they’re a football team) and I think it was a different in terms of North American sports naming conventions and it felt unique and different. The uniforms maybe should’ve had a shift due to three looking the same as the prior name, but I was fine with the numbers on helmets, and the consistency of the look.
