Four whole years...

But you're right. They should totally fire Cal and hire another Billy Gillespie!

Yeah, four whole years with two first round losses to 14+ seeds and a missed tourney at a school with resources 95% of coaches would kill for. It’s clear that stacking up high school talent that doesn’t stick around to develop isn’t a viable strategy in the portal/NIL era and he’s still expressing a reluctance to change that.  He doesn’t have the actual coaching chops to be successful now that the talent/skill gap has closed.

I guess the sport of basketball is just easy for Dan Hurley and co.. I know they were really good last year, but Jesus, this is women's level dominance.

The basketball teams give UConn an appeal for any conference whose focus is on basketball in case they decide to leave for re-alignment in all sports.

NC State is having the best day ever.

Men’s team knocks out Marquette to get to the elite eight as an 11-seed.

Women’s team knocks out powerhouse Stanford to get to the elite eight.

I like Cal, but Tubby Smith was run out of Kentucky for better results than Cal has delivered since 2019. He also doesn't help his case by being so stubborn and combative towards fans.

Well, the Kim Mulkey “hit piece” came out today and it revealed… Basically nothing new.

All it showed was that Mulkey is a vaguely homophobic :censored: who tends to freak WAY out about things that really aren’t that big of a deal because she’s a psychotic control freak.

What a revelation about the woman who filed a lawsuit and went nuts at even the mention of someone writing an article about her.

All it really does is make her look like even more of a nutbag, and also makes me wonder what the hell she’s actually hiding if she’s this paranoid about it.

Go ahead. Cut Coach Cal loose and he'll get scooped up immediately by another SEC school and have more success than UK with whoever his successor is.

Not sure I’ve seen a 30-0 run before like UConn just had.  This team’s insane when they get rolling. Illinois strategy of attacking Clingan, which they only veered from when the game had grown out of reach, was pretty ill-advised.

Kinda glad Illinois didn't make the Final Four given the Terrence Shannon situation. I have no idea the real story, but until it gets resolved it would just feel weird to me.

Also does anyone else find it weird that 3 of the top seeds (Arizona, Purdue, UConn) have been wearing predominantly throwback home uniforms this year? It'll be weird to look back on footage of this tournament and see those teams wearing uniforms from 20+ years ago (way more in Purdue's but I don't know when those are from)

They aren’t throwback uniforms, they are faux-backs at most. They took traditional designs for the schools and updated them with current word marks and number fonts.

None of the of three teams are using the current wordmarks on those jerseys, but they all do also other home uniforms that they don't seem to wear as often

And now they’re both in the Final Four!

Zach Edey vs. DJ Burns is going to be incredible television.

UConn will likely roll the Tide.

If UConn Women beat USC tomorrow, we would have two schools with both teams in the Final Four (NC State). Also a slim possibility that both championship games could be UConn vs. NC State.

Edey playing 38 and 39 minutes in the last two games is pretty incredible.  For someone his size, his conditioning is pretty nuts.

That said, him having three total fouls in that 77 minutes is absurd.  The officials have absolutely zero clue how to officiate someone of his size.

Regardless of how much further they go, I'm happy that Caitlin Clark and Iowa were able to get their revenge against LSU. It would've been so lame to see her end her college career to that team.

So the post game press conference from the LSU Women was interesting.  It was more of how good a person Angel Reese is and all of the off the field criticism she went through.  When LSU won the title last year, Reese pointed to her ring finger, which somehow garnered outrage, but when the recently retired Rams DE Aaron Donald did the same thing after the Rams Super Bowl win, nobody batted an eye.

Angel Reese doesn't deserve the hate.

I think she was more hurt than she was saying too, after she exited the game both her and the LSU offense lost all their mojo.

Either way tho, you weren’t beating Caitlin Clark with that defensive gameplan.

Iowa will face UConn in the Final Four. Geno’s got that machine running well as ever now that everyone’s healthy. I could see Bueckers matching Clark’s energy in a scoring duel.

NC State vs. South Carolina in the other matchup. South Car will likely coast.

Also, first time ever two different schools have both their men’s and women’s teams make the final four.
