Curious---what are some of your favorite goalie masks in hockey?

Mine include...

Nikolai Khabibulin*

*Nikolai now plays for Chicago, but the design of his mask is similar, just in red. I like the "Bulin wall"

Manny Legace

Slightly biased, but you have to agree, this mask is sweet. Very creative with the octopus holding the pennants of Detroit's retired numbers. I also like the "United we Stand" with the Canadian and American flags.

Al Montoya

Again slightly biased, but that is sweet how he turned the traditional winged helmet (worn by every Michigan goalie) into a wolverine face.

Curtis Joseph

CUrtis JOseph...CUJO....Stephen King...evil dog.

Your pics?

I'm too lazy to find pics, but Brodeur has to have thee NICEST mask out there. Its so simplistic it is great. Its what a goalie mask should be, its simple, easy to see from even the nose bleeds, and you dont need a close up or an explanation to know what it is or means.

Next I have to saw is Belfour, same formula as Brodeur.

Following Belfour, Alex Auld has my vote. That open mouth whale is just so awsome looking.

After Auld... I'd say that new guy in Edmonton...I cant remember his name, but I can remember his mask. Hes the call up for Conklin, and his mask is just so awesome looking.

Then of course you have Cujo, Turco, Theodore, and even Tellqvist.

I really like Marty Turco's mask. I'm not really biased, but I do really like Manny Legace's mask. It's probably my personaly favorite, although Turco's may be just overall cooler looking. Ironically, the same company, Bisop Designs, designed both of their masks. I really want to learn to do air brushing and make my own goalie mask. An Alf goalie mask would be the greatest thing ever.

Neon_Matrix- do you mean Markannen or whatever, the guy who is on Edmonton?

I'm sorta fond of Steve Shields' mask, paying homage to Cheevers.

BTW, GoaliesArchive.com is a great resource for these pics.

EDIT: Lalime's keeping Marvin the Martian? That makes me laugh a little.

Someone beat me to it, but I don't care - I'll say it again. Felix Potvin's was the best mask ever - so, so cool. His whole mask/pads look was one of the big things that attracted me to hockey in the early 90s.

Then when he moved to the Bruins last year he got it painted yellow and it STILL looked awesome.

Ex-Blues goalie Brent Johnson:

He also had a similar one with the St.Louis skyline.

Peoria's own Curtis Sanford:

In 02 he was called up from Peoria and had a 17 game shutout streak until the starter got back from the DL and Sanford was sent down again.

Richter's Statue of Liberty mask, even went with his Team USA jerseys. Also loved Vanbiesbrouck's when he played for the Rangers. He had the ciity skyline going across the front, similar to the Mets logo, and bees in the back. If I can find pictures, I'll post them.
