BBTV
Would it have helped the Marlins if they had chosen a darker shade of teal? I don't know. When I think of changing to black with orange, I think of the Anaheim Ducks. My question with this change, is it a preview of something larger? Like leaving Miami and Florida for "greener" pastures?Well going by the OP, this "change" is dependant on them staying in Florida, so I'd say not. Telemundo219
I think the should keep the Teal, add the Orange and use black in a lesser role. College sports as we know them are just about dead. The lid is off on all the corruption that taints just about every major program and every decision that the schools or the NCAA make is only about money, money, and more money. We'll have three 16+ team super-conferences sooner rather than later, killing much of the regional flair and traditional rivalries that make college sports unique and showing the door to any school that doesn't bring money to the table in the process. Pretty soon the smaller schools are going to have to consider forming their own sanctioning body to keep the true spirit of college sports alive because the NCAA will only get worse in it's excess from here
winghaz
Actually, marlins (the fish) are often called blue marlins. So why do the Marlins have teal instead of blue?
hecticbro
They should keep the black as the primary color, ditch the silver, and use equal amounts of orange and teal as secondary colors. Maybe an orange alternate jersey. Teal and orange aren't dark enough to survive together without black.
DEAD!
Are there not enough orange-and-black teams in MLB?Two is a lot? Then three's a crowd? (add Detroit Tigers to the list) I saw, I came, I left.

FiddySicks
HEY!!!! Ive got it!!!! Why dont they just keep teal, drop black a bit, and use orange!!!! Teal, orange, and black!!!! Its perfect!!!! Man, I cant believe any of you didnt think of it first, and that a bunch of you didnt read the thread and repeat whats already been said. But seriously, theyre gonna have quite a bit of work to pull this one off without being mistaken for the Giants or Orioles. TruColor
Two things: yes, the Tigers are Midnight Navy, not Black (same Navy as the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, and Cardinals), and for what it's worth, the Marlins call their Teal "Marlin Blue". Coacher42
Here's a great idea! Chenge the black to midnight navy, drop the teal and silver, and keep the orange but take the yellow out of the orange to make it red. Shoot! That makes a great MLB identity!Of course, I just keeding. On a serious note, it would be sad to see the Marlins drop the teal. It has been such a staple for their identity and when I think of them winning the World Series... I don't even picture the black and silver, I see the teal. But, that is just one man's opinion. The sky is green and the grass is blue in my world.
buster04
I really like the Marlins duds, can't they leave good enoguh alone? I feel that is a perfect look for a Miami baseball team, even if they went back to the teal hats..
TFoA
As much as I love orange...I really don't associate the Marlins with orange.. If anything I kinda liked the more black/tad of teal look they've had going on. BUt their best look was when they were making their run for the WS in 97. That's the best the Marlins have looked so far, they didn't overuse the teal like when they first got into the league, but they didn't de-emphasize the the teal either. So yeah, IMO they should keep the teal and stop messin around with the orange.

Fred T. Jane
something like this? it looks goodThe Miami Dolphins think it's a great colour combo... [Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008 Attention: In order to obtain maximum enjoyment from your stay at the CCSLC, the reader is advised that the above post may contain large amounts of sarcasm, dry humour, or statements which should not be taken in any true sort of seriousness. marlinfan
Didn't the original Miami Marlins minor league team have orange as their primary?Yes.I'm sure they won't be using blue as well because of the Mets. Here's my opinion on the matter:I love teal. As many have already said, it makes the franchise unique and goes well with the tropical look. Does it mean I want the fluorescent helmets, caps and sleeves from the early 90s to make a comeback? Hell no. I think that look was extremely tacky and dated. But I have long said a darker shade of teal would look a lot better. With that said, I do not blame ownership for trying to start off the new era of baseball in Miami with a completely new look. I thought about this earlier, and 'MIAMI' in orange on a road uniform would look rather nice. It's the overall look of the team that concerns me. Especially a primary logo. 1997 | 2003

If, and only if those conditions are met, then i'd approve dropping the teal.
