paynomind
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2772958On Opening Day, the sport will doff the traditional wool cap in favor of a new polyester blend model designed to wick away sweat before it can stream down a player's face. The change is part of commissioner Bud Selig's focus on boosting player performance, a Major League Baseball official said, and follows a general trend toward moisture-managing "performance" materials in sports apparel."We started to think, 'How can those developments be applied to our headwear?'" said John DeWaal, vice president of brand communications at New Era Cap Co., the Buffalo-based manufacturer that holds the cap contract.I'm in favor. All wool caps are hot, itchy, and shrink like crazy. I actually just bought, yesterday, a new hat at the Georgia Tech bookstore that looks exactly like a 100% wool hat I have, but its poly. I'm betting this is the same concept as the new MLBs. If so, its really nice. NCFA Sunset Beach Tech - Octopi ΓΔΒ! They do not fit or feel the same as the wool models do. I have been a collector of New Era for about 10 years and the hats only shrink if they are not cared for properly. I am a firm believer of if it isn't broken don't fix it.

Sport
hopefully that big sticker on the bill will discourage people from leaving them on the hat, and that stupid trend will die a quick death.

ZapRowsdower8
I bought a new model Pirates hat. I like it, very comfortable. Mac2, you are going to hate this part. The big sticker peels off, but there is a hole in it were the smaller (size) sticker remains.
Neon_Matrix
I was looking at the new Toronto T cap the other day and I noticed that the black it looks a little more mat than the older Jays cap. It didn't quite have the sheen that they currently do. I don't know if I'm the only one that noticed that... oddball
First of all I thought the sticker was large enough before for people to be forced to take it off. If people are leaving the other sticker on, you know these same people will leave the larger one on. I'm not sure why, but they think it's cool. FiddySicks
I so far have three of the new poly hats. Honestly, they are probably the biggest improvement that any league has made to any uniform part in at least a decade. They are about a million times more comfortable, easier to keep clean, cooler, and they dont shrink!!!! I wore one of them to a concert last weekend and it got massively funky. Despite the horror this wouldve caused even last year, I TOSSED IT IN THE WASHING MACHINE AND DRYER!!!!!! And guess what. It not only didnt it shrink, it kept its shape!!!! I really cant imagine how long im gonna have that hat, but I know itll outlive any of my other wool hats. Gone are the days of wearing a hat twice before It shrinks to where you can no longer wear it. I'm not sure why, but they think it's cool.I think it goes along with the "thug life" philosophy that New Era has embraced. - the flat brim- the size sticker left onIt looks like it was stolen. And, just look at the other lines of "thug life" styles they have.I was looking at the New Era site yesterday and saw where they now have paisley sweatbands that can be folded down...ala wearing a "do rag" under the cap without actually wearing the "do rag". I am not sure if they make different color paisley sweatbands (red or blue) yet. It makes me proud that MLB is associated with such a fine, wholesome company. Chazberg
This is great news. I've had the wool caps all my life, but I really never was in love with the design. The fit wasn't consistent between hats at all and it was hard to break them in. And to whoever said they only shrink if you don't take care of them properly, what do you do when you're at a game and it starts pouring rain? Before you were SOL. But these things sound great, I'm gonna pick me up a new Chisox model ASAP. charles-noerenberg.com
