Uggh. I always find ASG ballots to be a hard thing to fill out. I find I just dont know players on other teams like I do the guys on the teams I watch regularly and tend to do the homerism jump quite a bit. Oh well, here goes.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

First Base: Justin Morneau MIN

Second Base: Placido Poloanco DET

Third Base: Alex Rodriguez NYY (Anyone, even the most distorted Red Sox fans would be stupid to say otherwise)

Shortstop: Derek Jeter NYY

Catcher: Jeorge Posada NYY (Same as A-Rod)

Outfielder: Nick Swisher OAK

Outfielder: Vlad Guerrero ANA

Outfielder: Maglio Ordonez DET

Write-in:

NATIONAL LEAGUE

First Base: Dimitri Young WSH

Second Base: Chase Utley PHI

Third Base: Miguel Cabrera FLA

Shortstop: Jose Reyes NYM

Catcher: Russell Martin LAD

Outfielder: Barry Bonds SF (Same as A Rod and Posada)

Outfielder: Eric Byrnes ARI

Outfielder: Matt Holliday COL

Write-in:

So some of em are longshots, but looking at the stats (along with a bit of homerism :P), its what works.

Oh BTW,

He doesn't have to start, he doesn't even have to play. But please, please put da Meathook in the All-Star Game. I'm willing to offer both milk and cookies for his roster spot in San Fran.

My AL Ballot is the entire Royals lineup, I forget what I did for the NL.

(Note, I've done this every year since "This time, it counts!")

If you want to show how much of a joke the voting system is pull a "Rory" and send Jason to the Bay <insert canned laughter>

Or you could send a guy who deserves it and vote for Freddy Sanchez... even though this year hasnt been as good for him offensively, hes still doing very well defensively.

That's not really a "Rory". He may actually deserve it. Bay has 11 HR, 45 RBI, and is batting .289.

Now a better "Rory" would be Brad Eldred. 2 HR, 3 RBI, and .119 BA. That said I agree the voting system is a joke.

I could take Hill out, for sure, and replace him with Polanco or someone else, but with his defence, and the fact that he's only one of two decent bats for the Jays this year, I think he deserves a spot. Even as a write-in or whatever. Anyway, thats what I would like to see, but I'm expecting to see the Sox and Yanks playing the Mets and Phillies. What a great system!

The system, to put it bluntly, sucks. I know they want it to be the fans' game blah blah blah. But its the ALL STAR GAME people. Wake up. 2 years ago, Melvin Mora was hitting .396 going into the break and did he get the starting vote? Nope. A-Rod did, because he's A-Rod, and he plays in New York and alot of people had no idea who Melvin Mora was. I work at Citizens Bank Park, and personally, it makes me sick to look through some fans ballots and see all Phillies punched out. Am I a huge Phils fan? Yes, and always will be. But none of those guys, with the exception of Chase Utley and maybe Aaron Rowand deserve to be there for position players. Ryan Howard is a star, he's had a great past 2 seasons. Does he deserve to go based on THIS season? No he does not. And anyone that votes for Rod Barajas, as stated earlier in this thread, shouldn't deserve to vote. This thing is a big popularity contest and source of income for MLB (sponsors on the ballots). It needs to be put to an end, and the starters for the game need to be the guys who truly deserve to be there. Ok, I'm done......anyone agree?
