Is this from an ASG or something, and he and Shaq switched warm-up jackets? I'm confused...all I know is he's wearing a Magic jacket and standing next to Karl Malone, who's wearing his regular Jazz jacket (at first I thought Lakers till I saw the green in the collar).

It's from the 1992 NBA All-Star Game (pre-Shaq) in Orlando -- Robinson forgot or lost his Spurs warmups.

If we're going to enforce names on all-star players like Anthony Rizzo, then y'all need to start throwing names on all the scruba$$ hockey players that get posted.

I don't follow baseball much, but I can name a few players, (Not on the Twins, :P) but I didn't know this guy. And while I know a LOT of hockey players, I agree we need names on all the players. Some EVERYONE knows, ie. Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Babe Ruth. But a lot of these players in the last 10 pages or so, aren't exactly legends who everyone knows.

Here's Marc Staal.

The Rangers acquired his brother Eric Staal from the Hurricanes. While Eric's jerseys usually say E. STAAL, because he's always played with one of his brothers, Marc Staal was the only Staal on the Rangers, having just STAAL on the back of the jersey, so M. STAAL looks wrong. I'm not entirely sure that this belongs in players in the wrong uniform, but it's definitely the closest.

^ I've never understood the need for the first initial when two players share a surname. Their numbers should be sufficient to differentiate the players.

That happened when Geoff and Russ Courtnall played together in Vancouver. They shared the same last name but didn't put their first initial. Geoff wore 14 and Russ wore 9.

I definitey wouldn't put Cano with those other two. He's actually put up pretty good numbers in Seattle.

Some teams do it one way, some another. What's weird is not having a consistent policy:  I remember that, with the Mets, Howard Johnson wore "H. Johnson" while manager Davey Johnson wore "Johnson".

I think for a while Ozzie Smith continued to wear "Smith" after Lonnie Smith arived and wore "L. Smith"; but then Ozzie changed to "O. Smith".

Luckily, that's stopped in the NBA. I remember for years seeing K.Malone and J.Malone on the Jazz jerseys. I also believe M.Malone and J.Malone happened on the Bullets?

I think the NBA stopped doing that around 2003-04ish when Rasheed Wallace was traded to Detroit and teamed up with Big Ben.
