But I don't think that's true. Because a couple of years ago, I was at a party in Key West, and there was an orange man there named Bruce who had a knife in his mouth and a feather in his hat, and he made a margarita in my mouth. And then someone tackled him, and he dropped the bottle of tequila, and sobbed on my shoulder for a couple of hours. I was sure it was him, and I will never forget the tickle of that feather.

 Yikes

The sickest lid of all has to be the Iowa Barnstormers. Good to see they made Yahoo's list.

However, I don't quite understand how an atrocity like the Bucco Bruce helmet could make anyone's "best of" list. :puke:

That list is all out of order..a couple of the honorable mentions should be on the list. Buffalo helmet should be at least 2nd if not 1st. Tampa Bay helmet shouldn't be on that list at all.

(MLF) Chicago Cannons,  (IHA) Phoenix Firebirds - 2021 Xtreme Cup Champions

(WAFL) Phoenix Federals - WAFL World Bowl XII Champions (Defunct)

it is bothering to me that they did not get the number one helmet correct. (logo on the left side)

They got all of the helmet images from the Helmet Project site. The template that that site uses always has the helmets facing that way, so they just cheated so that there wouldn't just be a blank, black helmet.

Also, Barnstomers helmet is the best thing ever.

Same way someone can be a fan of the Chicago Cubs, it's personal opinion, what a person likes.

Yeah, and it's my personal opinion to dislike the Bucco Bruce helmet. What's your point?

And just to follow up, I simply find it hard to believe that the Bucs original dome could make anyone's best helmets list when it was a symbol for losing for years and when the color scheme just about made everyone sick while it was in use.

Bengals helmet is the worst I have ever seen.

The Steelers logo was born, in all places, Cleveland, as the logo they borrowed from Republic Steel. This schmoe tries to tie it into the fabric of the city of Pittsburgh.

Totally flawed list for many reasons.....

My list:

Top 10

10. Buffalo Destroyers--AFL: This one gets the nod from me, lifelong Bills fan, because it shows us what they

could have done with navy, royal, red and silver. Oh, what could have been?

9. Arizona Wranglers--USFL: Copper makes its first appearance anywhere, and just a great iconic logo, a flaming

branding iron. It says wrangler without a horse in sight. Very nice imagery.

8. Seattle Seahawks--previous, silver: I like the new ones, but having one of the main logo stripes the same

color as the helmet doesn't work for me. If they had gone with the silver helmet model they proposed, I

would rank them in top 5, but older silver with blue & green was a solid #8

7. Philadelphia Eagles--Current: The older wings were OK, but the new ones, and the unique blue-green is a

very nice combo. You are going to sense by the end of the list that a standard "logo on side, stripe on top"

helmet is just not going to do well on my list.

6. Quad City Steamwheelers--AF2: A team name that could have produced a horrible boat logo, or a boring

paddlewheel, or something cartoony, instead we get flamings smokestacks. Nicely played QC!!

5. St. Louis Rams: I am partial to the new colors, but any version is just classic.

4. Boston Breakers--USFL: I remember hearing the team names announced before the famous SI issue gave

us all the helmets, and I remember thinking there was no way to make a good helmet for Breakers,

but the USFL, perhaps the best branded league outside of the NFL ever, found a way.

3. Iowa Barnstormers--Arena: It is sad that now that the team has resurrected they went half@ss on the

jerseys and pants, but it is very nice to see the goggle helmet back.

2. San Diego Chargers--Navy until 2007: I do not understand the love for the white helmet. The powder blue

jerseys are cool, but the best helmet is so clearly the navy with white/yellow bolt.

1. Michigan Panthers--USFL: Unique colors, aggresive modern logo, outstanding!!!!

Honorable Mention: USFL: Jacksonville (great wraparound) , Oklahoma (classic logo)

NFL: Patriot Pat & New Patriot (they are both good, preference depends on your oldschool v. mod

taste)

Steelers: Iconic logo and the one side thing is special.

Buccs: New pewter helmet, so much more "butch" than Bucco ever was.

Dolphins: I like the addition of the navy, more subtle in helmet than jerseys, and the

aqua and orange just scream South Florida without being too bright.

WFL: None, horrible league all around, lame attempt to be too uniform in their uniforms.
