Actually, since the Rays only tied the game, and didn't take the lead in that rain shortened inning, the score should revert back to that of the last completed inning, I believe. Which would be 2-1 Phillies.

If Selig had the intention of ignoring the League rules, it was irresponsible for them to play that last half inning, in my opinion.

They changed that rule a few years ago so they suspend the game instead of reverting it...

Selig just told everyone that even though there's no rules allowing him to do it, they STILL WOULD HAVE SUSPENDED THE GAME EVEN IF THE RAYS DIDN'T TIE IT :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing:

That rule about the score reverting was changed in 2007.

As for calling the game, if Seligs intention was to have a indefinite rain delay if a team was leading, then yes it should have been called earlier.

Actually there is a rule. The best interest of baseball clause. In addition all he would be doing is not calling the game off, which wouldn't be in violation of any rule (unless there is a maximum rain dealy rule I don't know about).

Play suspended. Selig at the mic now.

BTW, Jason Stark is reporting the Rays have already checked out of their rooms and the hotel is booked solid so they can't get back in.

Since BBTV snuck in for Game 4, it's only fair that he pays his moral debt by allowing the Rays to crash at his place, free of charge, for the night....

Ok honestly, I know that you're a Phils fan, but had they ended the game with the Phils up 2-1, and had they handed the series to the Phillies due to bad weather, baseball would've lost a TON of fans, including me. It's a terrible situation either way, but to give a team a title because of a situation like that is FAR FAR FAR worse than doing what they did, despite the rules.

The issue is that with them knowing that they'd have continued the game at a later time regardless of whether the Rays would've tied the score or not, they shouldn't have played that final half inning.

I wanted to party tonight

It's been 25 years or whatever since the last one, man. What's one more night?

Bud Selig just confirmed what I say, there are no rained shortened wins in the postseason.

Correct and incorrect. Playoff games fall under the same rules as regular season rules. A game can be called early and if it's past 4 and half innings it's an official game. However, what Selig basically said was he would not have called it. Instead of it being a suspended game like it is now it would just be a real long rain delay.

That's what I'm pissed about. The Rays defense won't have to deal with the same field conditions in their half of the 6th.

BULLSH1T!!! I have class tomorrow night, and now may have a tough decision to make. I'm in my last semester of grad school, and really can't afford to miss a session of this particular class. On the other hand, it's the world effing series. I'm hoping like hell that it's pouring rain tomorrow so that they can't play.

Never being one to leave well enough alone, I've decided to make another attempt at crashing the World Series tonight. I think the chances of being successful are far lower tonight than yesterday, but it's worth a shot... right?

This time, you need to bring a camera to document your exploits. We (and by "we", I mean "I") demand a photographic timeline.

1. I got in again. Not nearly as tricky as Sunday night. Pretty much walked in, got confronted, showed my Eagles ID and basically said "the guys said they'd take care of me since I take care of you". The security guy shrugged his shoulders and said "well nobody told me anything, but... go ahead." That would never be able to happen at the Linc (heck - you wouldn't even be able to get far enough to talk to anyone without being frisked, searched, and having your bags searched.)

2. Pictures? You want pictures? I gots pictures. Stay tuned.

It should be added that the gates had just opened by the time I got there tonight, so there was no need to sneak around and hide. That also made tonight's effort a lot easier than Sunday's.

Now then, at the risk of incriminating myself, here's a few pics.

Pre-game intros. They brought out people holding the state flags for some reason. If it was up to me, there would only have been 49 instead of 50, because I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missoura.

Game 5 (a)

Goddam rain. Maybe domes aren't so bad - wait - yes they are.

How long has your professor been in town? I'm sure he's aware of the significance of this game...and that everybody in the room with computers will have their attentions focused elsewhere.

EDIT-apparently not. Is he a soccer fan?

Theoretical Computation. Teacher is from the Ukraine. He doesn't give a F about baseball. Only one other student in the class is American - so the rest of the class doesn't give a F about baseball.
