Vikings Throwbacks

Recommended Posts

This is some of the best news I've heard recently. The new Vikings uniforms are a mess. The old unis that they wore when Tarkenton, Carter, Culpepper, Moss and the Purple People Eaters are some of the most beautiful uniforms in NFL history. Purple and gold is such a great combination that you don't need curves, swirls and piping everywhere to jazz it up.

No debate. Classics win.

Without doubt the better uniform..........'Pep looks downright skinny compared to what I saw today.

Not trying to stir up any trouble here but why are people so offended by the word gay? If you are gay and someone calls you gay ,are they not properly describing you?If you are not gay then simply give them a STFU and move on. When you sit there and whine against the use of the word gay it puzzles me. You are what you are . Either you are or you are not. A little too sensitive.

EDIT: I'm just going to get called an Internet Tough Guy again.

Needless to say, I didn't have very flattering things to say in response to this post.

I completely disagree. The old unis were WAY more of a mess than what they currently sport. The new set looks slick and makes AP look just that much more intimidating. At first I wasn't so sure about the Vikings unis, especially the white insert, but I love them now. All they have to do is actually waer the purple pants on the road and they'd be perfect. The old set looked like a high school JV team's unis. Worst of all was the mismatching home and road templates.

Can anyone adequately explain just WTF happened to the purple pants anyway?? Do the players not like them, the fans don't like them, what? To only wear them 3 times in 3 years is pretty lame.

Well I'm not an internet tough guy that is for sure . I'm what you would call a real tough guy and am willing to throw down at the drop of a hat. I do it quite often. So if I'm ever in that cesspool of a city you live in I will definitely shoot you a PM letting you know where I will be and we can see who's tough.Ok ,Pal.

Those jerseys aren't true throwbacks. If they have the three stripes, the numbers should be above the stripes, not on the shoulders (TV numbers).

True, but that can't be done with the modern jersey template. You have the choice of moving the TV numbers to the shoulders or shrinking the stripes to the point where they are too tiny to really look like Northwester stripes should. As it is, they still have to make the stripes much smaller than at any time in the past.

The 49ers have kept the sleeve numbers, but they can shrink the 3 equal-sized stripes on down and still fit it all in. Also, look at the Bears where most players have to move the bottom stripe to the sleeve cuff (Orton has longer sleeves than most other Bears' players).

I'm not offended by the word gay. I am offended by any form of labeling or describing that has absolutely no purpose other than to build divisions in society. There is no reason to call someone a descriptive name at all. The word "gay", when not used colloquially and not in a literally-descriptive form (i.e. to actually describe someone's sexuality) is almost always used in a mocking sense, as in "dude, that's gay!" or "what are you, gay?" So how is it OK for a term with such negative or mocking connotations to be used to literally describe someone without it being offensive? It can't.

You know, I have to say I really do appreciate guys like you who would toss down any time for any reason. Not because being a "tough guy" is such an admirable thing, but because you're the kind of idiot who'd be stupid enough to "throw down" in an unfamiliar place with some stranger and get your ass shot and killed. Guys like you help to show the fundamentals of our justice system and darwinism all at the same time.

Seriously, how long does it have to take normally functioning humans to grow outta this "I tough I beat you with rock" crap?

Hey, what if we don't happen to be wearing our hats? How will we know the big throw down is gonna start? Damn, being a "tough guy" jackass may be harder than it looks.

In my experience, the real "tough guys" are the ones who don't run their mouths about how "tough" they are. Anyone who "throws down" at the drop of a hat is basically someone who has real "issues" and just likes having their ass kicked half the time. There are people you can talk to about that you know.

I have to ask this question. Let's say that Mr. 5...4...3...2...1 and I have a disagreement. He decides to "throw down" and we end up pummeling each other for the better part of 20 minutes. At the end of this grand display of stupidity are either one of us going to change our position on what started the fight in the first place? As a veteran of several bar fights in my younger years, I can tell you that no one changed their mind on anything at the end of one. We all ended up walking away thinking the other party was every bit the :censored: we thought they were before the fight. All I ever got out of a fight was being sore the next day and banned from some of my favorite drinking establishments.

But that's just my experience. Maybe there's more to "throwing down" and I just never noticed.
