dirty curry, you're just upset that favre isnt playing for your new york jets anymore.

anyway, it doesnt matter, favre plays for the vikings, end of story, nothing anyone on this site or on espn or those damn veggiehead, tree-hugging hippies from green bay can do about it.

I can't speak for curty but most jets fans are more than happy that favre is gone from NY. He's widely regarded as a broken down piece of crap that continues to live on the aura of the glory days of late 90's around these neck of the woods.

Hey, I never knew cheese was a vegetable....

I saw, I came, I left.

For the record, I'm not seeing why there's so much praise for Jackson and Rosenfels.

Jackson was benched for most of last season, and Rosenfels was a turnover machine when filling in for Schaub.

Just sayin'.

When the 2008 season ended, I did want to see Favre come back and give it another go with the Jets, especially after Mangini was fired 'cause nobody wants to see their team start from scratch and rebuild when they're a win or two away from the playoffs. However, after Brett decided to retire again. I figured he was really done this time since he was with a team who, unlike the Packers, wanted him around. Plus, he actually seemed burned out and that he really did never want to pad up again. However, the offseason soap opera starts up one again. Months go by before last week when Brett says "No." to the Vikings and "No." to ever coming back to the NFL. Days later he hops a plane to Minnesota and before you know it he's throwing passes in a purple freaking helmet.

I can't see how can anyone can support Brett Favre anymore when all he does is deceive his fans time and time again. Looking back, I'm glad the Jets moved on without this first-class a**hole. Minnesota can go down in flames with this (as Bucfan put it) chronic liar for all I care!

I love Mark Schlereth.

This dude absolutely ROASTED both Favre AND the Vikings yesterday. Told it exactly how it was in regards to that whole situation. And I love how he included his own insight from his days with the Broncos, even going so far as to include his and the team's personal feelings about the Broncos having brought in Dale Carter after having let go of Steve Atwater and how, from that point on, most of the players on that team developed pretty much a "yeah, whatever dude" attitude towards Mike Shanahan. (ON an off-note, does Mark have his own blog out there somewhere? This dude should either do that or get his own show, for real.)

But Mark raised a very good point...how in the hell can a coach, a leader of men, and a grown damn man himself, look another man or a group of men square in the eyes, lead them under false pretense, and then reneg on his word? (Actually, the same can be said of Brat Farve, as well.) I've long thought Childress was a nut...this whole fiasco pretty much only reconfirmed that.

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

This is the most idiotic post I've seen around here in awhile.

Wait... when did the Packers move to Riverwest, Milwaukee? (Miffland, Madison for you Badger alums) :D

For real though... not only is Green Bay is probably the most conservative of the bigger cities in Wisconsin, but vegetarianism is the antithesis of everything Packers fans are known for... so where did this all come from?

Heard that Childress drove out and picked up Fav-ruh personally at the airport? Not rode in the vehicle...he DROVE it. Did he carry Brett's bags too? Reminds me of Jim Mora kissing Vick's helmet in the tunnel before a game as they waited for introductions. That's...just...weird.

Two years, $25 million? As others pointed out, talk about Cash for Clunkers...

Right, because Dale Carter is roughly the equivalent to Brett Favre. Makes sense.

Honestly, do you really think the Vikings players will be that upset over this? Certainly they feel a sense of remorse for Jackson and Rosenfels, but they've seen these guys in camp this year. They haven't exactly been overwhelming.

More than the pundits, they know that as a Super Bowl contender, their weak link is at quarterback. And they know, more than anyone, that having someone behind center who simply gives the impression of reliability -- something neither Rosenfels or Jackson can claim -- will require defenses to pay attention. That can only make life easier for Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor to tear it up. Because without that, the Vikings offense is a one-trick pony.

They (Carter and Schlereth) both were highly critical of Minny/Childress on SportsCenter. Of course, you guys don't watch ESPN, because you hate it so much, so you wouldn't have known that.

Tank, your typical bloviating aside, how is Favre not an improvement over the quarterbacks the Vikings employ now?

I may be a Vikings fan, but I also despise the Packers, which doesn't exactly place me in the Brett Favre fan club. He's a better QB at age 40 than either Rosenfels or Jackson today.

True, but that's not saying very much.

It sure doesn't make him a top-10 quarterback. Or even a top-20. He has a well-documented tendency to break down in a big way in the latter half of the season.

Will Favre help the Vikings win games in the first half of the season? Absolutely. Cannot be argued. Will he cost them games in the latter half of the season? Just as inarguable.

I saw a stat line on ESPN yesterday that showed Jackson(and I think whoever else was at QB last season) had a higher passer rating than Favre, threw less interceptions, and won more games than this shell of Brett Favre. How is that any better?

Because Brettfavre was 13-3 two years ago! Because Brettfavre was 8-3 and beat the Titans before he got hurt last year! Because Brettfarve is Brett-motherfluffing-Favre! Sometimes, that's all you need.

I can see how this is gonna play out...the Vikes will start out 3-0, leading into ESPN hyping the GB/MIN MNF game like it's the biggest football game in the history of not only the NFL, but college football, high school football, Pop Warner football, amateur football, USFL football, association football, rugby football, pretty much any other football game in the football code will be bollocks compared to this game, or at least that's what ESPN will have you think.

They'll probably win that game too, and the media will be making Super Bowl reservations for the Vikes. They'll slow down a little bit, then hit the home stretch where Favre will start to wear down towards the end of the year and begin throwing interceptions like Diddy throws white parties. They'll make into the playoffs still, but then bow out to some team that's been good but has been ignored because pretty much every media outlet has been covering Favre. Favre will retire, then waffle, and either he actually fulfills the contract and comes back for Year 2 at the end of training camp for 2010-11, or actually stay retired this time. I'm putting my money on 'retire until the end of training camp.' if they don't win the Super Bowl this season.
