Butler is GOING HOME TO THE FINAL FOUR!!!!

Gives new meaning to "The Bulter did it."

So glad Jim Nantz wasn't calling this game.

So we have a technical mid-major in the Final Four. And they will have home advantage.

EDIT: Damn you Greg Gumbel!!!!

Greg Gumbel just dropped the "The Butler Did It" line. Ugh.

Great to see Butler going, though. I believe it's been said previously in this thread, but everyone can shut the hell up about Gonzaga as upset specialists, Cinderellas, bracket busters, and so forth. Dan Dickau couldn't pull this off.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

That's awesome. That's gotta be too cool, playing a Final Four game right in your hometown.

Butler in College Basketball is basically the equivalent of a Boise State in College Football. A team in a small conference that has consistently been a top tier team. The difference is unlike Boise State Butler actually gets a chance to play for the National Championship.

UK proves again that a group of talented freshman can't win you a Championship, just take '07 Ohio State for example.

If Calipari wants to win, he'll have to pay more money than he did to get that guy to take Derrick Rose's ACT.

Its a good think Kentucky lost, because chances are the title would be vacated in a few years when they find out Calipari did something underhanded.

I picked K-State to reach the Final Four, but I think you have to root for Butler. They are the symbol of the solid Mid Major and it will be nice to see them break through and reach the Final Four and it will be a home court for them too since I think they are technically the host of the Final Four.

Why Cinderellas are bad.

Indiana-based Butler and Purdue universities might be sentimental favorites to reach the Final Four, but most local business owners hope they don't make it. According to the Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association, the Final Four brought $39.3 million in extra spending to the RCA Dome in 2006. This year, that amount is estimated at $50 million.

What these cold-eyed capitalists want are big schools with lots of fans who are close enough to drive but far enough away that need to stay a few days in hotels.

The Big Ten schools are perfect.

Teams on the coast, like St. Mary's College of California and Cornell University in New York -- not so much.

"They both would be a disaster, business-wise," said Tom Sutton, owner of Coach's Tavern, 28 S. Pennsylvania St.

Who Works Better for a City

So cinderellas are bad because they don't bring in as much money as the big schools? That's true that they don't bring in as much money to the host city and I could've told you that without a fancy link, but what's it to you how much money these people make? Why do you care? I assume you're not a business owner in downtown Indianapolis so it's not really affecting you. I really couldn't care less what Indianapolis thinks about a mid-major making the final four.

Because....

I'm bored with North Carolina, Michigan State, Duke, UConn, UCLA, Kentucky and other big boys in the final four. What's great about the K-State/Butler matchup is that at least one non-traditional power is going to go to the final four. That is cool with me.

Sadly, you take watching sport on TV so personally. They (networks) already have you, they don't acre, but in order for it to remain on free TV is for a larger audience to watch. Lower seeds are not the type which bring in bigger demographics or a wider audience. As I said before the Cornell game on Thursday to those posters who wanted "total chaos", but all lower seeds would not bring in people to watch outside of the overly sportscentric. If next Saturday has Tennessee and Baylor, I will not watch with as much interest as it will be if Duke is playing in one of the games. If I don't think the final is really worthy, I will watch MLB Opening night or RAW.

Congratulations to both Butler and West Virginia today. Butler has proven that even with four coaching changes in last decade, you can still succeed. With WVU, the general public will realize that with his warts (His DUI field test) , Bob Huggins can really coach. Next Saturday, West Virginia will play the late game against Baylor/Duke. A possible #2/#1 or #3 game will end the session. Michigan St. will bring better ratings than Tennessee.
