I was just thinking, if Tennessee beats Michigan State and Baylor beats Duke tomorrow, this will be one of the most interesting Final Fours in recent memory (Tennessee-Butler-West Virginia-Baylor-OK, how many were picking THIS in their brackets?)

The CBS broadcasting bigwigs are crying in their beer right now...

While they will be rooting for Duke, they (CBS) will have stories for the Final Four, but it is NOT interesting.

CBS has the sports goldmine later that week...Tiger at Augusta National (if he makes the cut). On Monday, CBS still could get an extra interview with a CBS News reporter who is approved by Augusta National (Steve Kroft, Mike Wallace, Charlie Rose, or someone big).

They are not crying since the NCAA ratings may be lesser than normal, The Masters should be incredible.

So cinderellas are bad because they don't bring in as much money as the big schools? That's true that they don't bring in as much money to the host city and I could've told you that without a fancy link, but what's it to you how much money these people make? Why do you care? I assume you're not a business owner in downtown Indianapolis so it's not really affecting you. I really couldn't care less what Indianapolis thinks about a mid-major making the final four.

Because....

I'm bored with North Carolina, Michigan State, Duke, UConn, UCLA, Kentucky and other big boys in the final four. What's great about the K-State/Butler matchup is that at least one non-traditional power is going to go to the final four. That is cool with me.

Sadly, you take watching sport on TV so personally. They (networks) already have you, they don't acre, but in order for it to remain on free TV is for a larger audience to watch. Lower seeds are not the type which bring in bigger demographics or a wider audience. As I said before the Cornell game on Thursday to those posters who wanted "total chaos", but all lower seeds would not bring in people to watch outside of the overly sportscentric. If next Saturday has Tennessee and Baylor, I will not watch with as much interest as it will be if Duke is playing in one of the games. If I don't think the final is really worthy, I will watch MLB Opening night or RAW.

Congratulations to both Butler and West Virginia today. Butler has proven that even with four coaching changes in last decade, you can still succeed. With WVU, the general public will realize that with his warts (His DUI field test) , Bob Huggins can really coach. Next Saturday, West Virginia will play the late game against Baylor/Duke. A possible #2/#1 or #3 game will end the session. Michigan St. will bring better ratings than Tennessee.

Where do you get the idea that he "take watching sport on TV so personally?" He's just saying what I'd imagine a good many of us around here think as well; we like seeing some new blood in The Final Four. Anyone who isn't on The CBS payroll couldn't care less if CBS makes any money on this. The Final Four will put up very solid numbers for CBS no matter who is playing. The lack of a "marquee team" may result in a drop off in ratings but it won't be enough for CBS to lose a lot of sleep over it. It's The Final Four. It's guaranteed a solid rating.

With regard to the city of Indianapolis, the arena is sold out for both the semi-finals and the championship game. There will be plenty of "out of town" money rolling in regardless of who is playing in the games. The Final Four is an event. Like The Super Bowl, The Final Four isn't relying solely on the fans of the teams who play in it to make it successful. Seriously, how many fans from Baylor or Duke do you expect to drop everything and head off for Indianapolis after tomorrow's game? How many people from West Virginia or Tennessee? Sure there will be some but it's not like they're going to roll in by the tens of thousands. A trip to The Final Four isn't something you throw together at the last minute. Not that it matters since the games are already sold out. They have been for a long time now. The best bet would be to try to score tickets to the title game from fans whose team lost in the semi-finals.

That would be a rocking Final Four, screw the ratings If nobody is intrigued by those four teams then dont watch.

1. You got the small guys who play in the gym where Hooisers was shot.

2. You would have a coach that is one hell of a personality and everything that is school spirit Orange Jackets and all

3. You would have a school from Texas that has risen out of a murder scandal less than ten years ago

4. You have a coach that has tried for 20 years to win a title and now with his Alma matter he has a chance to win it all.

Yeah they are. They're crying over only making a ton of money as opposed to making a :censored:-load of money. :D CBS will survive.

And let's hope we get that Final Four.

If Tennesee can pull this off and make it to the title game I'll be absolutely stunned. I'm giddy that they even made it this far, but for the first time ever I an safely say that Tennessee actually has a truly legitimate shot at winning the whole damn thing.Come on, Vols. Lets do this.

CBS has The Masters upcoming, therefore they really have less to worry about in terms of ratings, plus the NCAA can opt out of the current contract after this summer. So they have prepaid and are in flux. CBS makes their money from advertising the event through the years. As for TV. DTWS, should still beat the NCAA final on Monday.

In terms of attendance, tickets are mostly sold but that is the money which the city may receive.

Southern Baptists have money, so they may even go to both the men's and women's Final Four. Duke is the basketball version of Notre Dame football (love/hate). There are as many non-Carolinians who love the Tar Heels too, but I will try to be lesser.

Thanks Red. I don't take watching sports on TV too seriously. In fact, I didn't watch last night's game, I saw "How to Train your Dragon" with my little cousin instead. I'm just bored with the same teams making the Final Four over and over again. I fail to understand how that is taking sports on TV too seriously.

To Dwabful, this didn't answer my question from above. Why do you care about CBS's ratings and the economy of Indianapolis? If the tournament is on say, NBC next year, what difference does it make? We're not in danger of them not televising the final four in the future.

Secondly, every team that makes the final four is worthy of winning the championship. It's a tournament, if you've made the championship game then you've likely beaten a high seed (a #1 and a #2 in Butler's case, a #2 in Tennessee's). Who cares what their seed was at the start, they won the games they were given and you can't hold that against them.

Have you ever considered posting in english? I have no earthly idea of what you're trying to say. "I will try to be lesser?"

Please no Michigan State in the Final Four again. I have no idea how they made it last year and no idea how they made it this far this year.

Oh, and am I the only one not rooting for Butler? Yeah, it's a nice story and good to see a mid-major in the Final Four (granted they are not cinderellas in any sense considering they were top 20 all year), and I didn't have any ill will towards them after they knocked off the Orange, but their half court offense slows down the game so much and their games against Syracuse and Kansas State dragged on so much. Obviously it's working for them considering how they forced two up-tempo teams in Syracuse and Kansas State to play their game and turn the ball over, but their style of play has made the game drag on. It reminds me of Bill Tierney's coaching back in the late 90s and early 2000s in lacrosse at Princeton. Yeah, the slow it down style gets you into national championship games, but it's boring to watch.
