Chara slammed his head so hard, you can clearly see a dent in the pole where he was hit.

Yeah, that's definitely clean and he does not deserve a punishement.

That must have been a hard hit. Those sponge poles are so hard to dent.

Damn, I hate the Rangers playing on the West Coast. I can watch like 1 hour tonight before I fall asleep.

Something I never thought about as a kid but now seems pretty crazy: that east coast people would have to wait until 10:30 just to watch their team start playing for a good chunk of the season. As much as I like sports I'm not staying up till 1 am regularly just to watch the games.

I AM SHOCKED AND APPALLED AT THE SENSELESS VIOLENCE BY _________ ON ___________ IN LAST NIGHT'S ________-__________ GAME. THIS WAS A DISGUSTING ACT WITH LIFELONG RAMIFICATIONS FOR THE HELPLESS VICTIM. THE LEAGUE MUST ACT! I DEMAND A SUSPENSION OF AT LEAST 20 GAMES FOR THIS. THE REPUTATION OF THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE IS ON THE LINE. ACT NOW, CAMPBELL!!!

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Dear Blackhawks, please figure out how to not suck in the first period. Sincerely, CS85.

Braden Holtby gets his 1st NHL shutout! Goaltending problems? We haz none. Varlamov, Neuvirth, Holtby are all studs with long great careers ahead of them. That is, if Varlamov can stay healthy.

It's my Oilers, and we're missing our top 3 Players lol. Wouldn't be too excited. But it's nice to see the guy get his first shutout.

Notice that his hand is BESIDE Pacioretty's head, not behind it. He was pushing him into the boards, not the glass. Freak injury. Clean hit.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Guy had 2 shutout periods vs Tampa Wednesday. Kids pretty good.

Notice the hand beside his head, and the hard foam pole? You just disproved your own thought in posting that image.

Not gonna argue it. Only thing is with the young goalies that's a big risk going into the playoffs. But if the kids get on a hot streak watch out. Especially with Ovie getting his game back.

Hard foam? HARD FOAM?!?

Clean hit. Bad spot. If anything, we should be discussing that the outrage over this call partially stems from the NHL's disciplinarians finally, and correctly, legislating on intent rather than result.

Oh look, a shot across the bow from Air Canada.

For the last time it was a horrible accident. Redesign the goddamn rink so this crap doesn't happen.

The east coast teams have nothing to complain about. They play 9 road games against the Western Conference, and around 4 of those 9 are in the Central Time Zone. That means there's 5 games they have all year where it starts between 9 and 10:30. Columbus and Detroit fans have to face 10 or 10:30 starts 10 times a year (since Phoenix is in the Pacific for most of hockey season), plus 9 or 9:30 starts 6 more times. That's 16 of the team's 41 road games in either the Mountain or Pacific Time Zones. Yeah, I don't feel bad for east coast fans at all.

But, my God that performance was terrible by the Blue Jackets last night. Get up 3-0 on St. Louis and just quit playing, and lose 4-3 in overtime. Garon sucked in the 3rd period and overtime, as was expected, and the shot at the playoffs has now gone by the wayside. All thanks to Arniel's dumbass decision to start Garon in Nashville in the biggest game of the season. Sigh...

Montreal police have launched an official investigation into Tuesday night's violent hit on Habs forward Max Pacioretty.

In a release issued early Thursday, Quebec's Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DCPP) confirmed it had advised the ministry of Public Security that it was recommending an investigation.

It didn't take long for officials to respond. Montreal police issued a brief statement a few hours later confiming they had been asked by the ministry to begin looking into the hit and its aftermath.
