Tremendous pitching in the playoffs so far! We had a no-no from Doc, and 14 K's from Timmy. I would KILL to see those two duel in the NLCS, should Philly and SF make it.

Watching the Rays yesterday all I kept thinking was "how did this team win 96 games? In the AL East? I really thought they'd turn it around today. Nope. They're done. Go Rangers. You're my only hope of knocking off the Yankees.

On Atlanta - San Francisco: If I'm a Braves fan before they game and you tell me my pitching staff is going to only give up one run I'm liking my chances. How demoralizing is it to lose a game where your pitching does that?

Lincecum pitches a 2 hitter with 14 Ks and it's only the second best pitching performance in the playoffs? Year of the pitcher indeed.

Eh. Coming into the series, I had a feeling that Lincecum was probably gonna have a big game like this. It's kind of like having to deal with Kobe Bryant in the NBA playoffs. You know he's going to go off, so you gotta do your best to limit the damage any other way you can. The Braves basically did just that by holding the Giants to just one run, & still lost. Not really demoralizing if you saw it coming...then again, I'm not in the Braves clubhouse so I have no idea what the mood is like. Either way, it's a good thing that the Giants don't have 3 Lincecums. They still have a decent chance to at least get a split before coming back to the Ted on Sunday.

Aside for the two god-damned hits ("You can't say god-damned on the air!"), I'm actually encouraged. The Giants offensive attack doesn't really scare me, and when the Braves got into a mess, the pitching was able to get the plays they needed. The Braves' fielding needs to tighten up, or this series will end quickly.

And you really shouldn't be. This Giants team reminds me some of the Baltimore Ravens team who won the Super Bowl. They're so lights out defensively most nights that it's not even funny, but they're just barely capable on the offensive side of the ball. If they do fall in this post season, it'll be the double plays that kill them.

Speaking of hitting into momentum crushing double plays, Pablo Sandoval is easily one of my favorite players in the bigs, but he really should've been left off of the playoff roster. He just doesn't have it this year.

The only thing that can change my attitude will be when Randy starts styling all over the Meadowlands on Monday night.

It is not the fans, it is more of the fact that the Metrodome was such an advantage in the playoff that it will take time for Target Field to at 75% the previous level.

umm the Twinkies are 3-21 in their last 24 playoff games.....how was the Twinkie dome an advantage?
