Well this isn't what I expected. After actually seeing the cap I have completely changed my mind about how I feel about the gold. Instead of giving it more pop like I thought it would, it just makes the whole thing look completely washed out. The silver halo is MUCH better.

And why is the halo in the logo on the patch silver? It looks really inconsistant.

I couldn't disagree more. The gold looks amazing. It's ties back to team history as well (true, a history with no WS titles).

And I don't know about you, but I think of gold halos when I imagine something with a halo over it. They should keep the hat halo gold from now one.

Oh don't get me wrong, I loved the idea of it, and as far as historical aspects go it's an even better idea. I can't even say I dislike the execution, because it's essentially what I expected. There's just something about that particular shade of red and gold that just doesn't look good together. I think a lighter, more 49ers style of gold or even yellow to REALLY bring it back to the old days would've been much better. I really hope it's just a one year thong though. Then in that case it's acceptable because it really would be celebrating the anniversary. If it somehow progresses to a permanent change (I know that's not intended, but there are many reasons I feel that it's possible) then it'll be a huge downgrade IMO. Silver and red is an awesome combo.

Actually, it does pop really well when you see the cap in person. The lighting of the picture along with the white background are really making the gold wash out. I saw one in person and it is far superior to the silver halo.

I guess baseball jersey design has officially passed me by. I never saw the need for the side panels, these underarm colors are no better, and the collars/patches over the nameplates look as ridiculous to me as the earflaps on the last generation of BP caps.

All that said, I don't mind if teams take risks with their BP jerseys. I just dislike these pointless splotches everywhere. Maybe people felt that way when stripes first appeared on jerseys.

agreed. it's just that the random splotches don't seem to have any rhyme or reason to why they're highlighted. i guess that does indeed make them truly random haha

i think a good BP jersey "risk" is something the pirates did this year: bright color, highlighted their second primary color, by making it the main jersey color, giving them a radically different by comparison, but not STUPID look. it's one thing to go with a brighter color (a la 2003-'04 mets, '11 pirates) for your BP and stand out that way, but to highlight random patches of the jersey. very strange.

Exactly. The Pirates using gold, the Mets using blue or orange (since their alt color seems to be eternally black) and even what the Tigers did this year (other than that orange collar).

As a Cubs fan, there's no reason for me to pick up a BP if I already have a blue alt. And for those of us fans that aren't particularly fond of the blue alt, making the BP almost identical rules that one out, too. (And the navy experiment a couple of generations back made no sense.) Put the primary Cubs logo on a blue shirt and you might have something... or a different script. Teams should try some things that aren't just dictated by where the fabric's seams are.

About freaking time.... the authentic teal jersey is finally on the MLB Shop. (dance)

pMLB2-9056623dt.jpg

That is beautiful, but I now agree with the people who argued that it needs a white outline. Oh, and hopefully the teal-brimmed home cap makes a full time comeback for 2012.

Nah, I think the white outline was excessive and unnecessary. You can make out the navy enough, and anyway, "Mariners" is in silver so it's perfectly readable without and extra line that just makes the individual letters look to big and bulky.

Do agree with you on the hat, though.

Although I don't know about anybody else, but I'd still rather see them go to more of the northwest green that they claim to use rather than just teal. A more greenish color would just look even better on what already is a great looking jersey.

I agree that the white outline was a bit much, but the navy outline around text seems too thin to me. (Perhaps it just looks thin in comparison to the piping.) Thicken it a little bit and it'll look perfect.

I'd love to see the Mariners adopt the Seahawks' colors. Puget Blue + Slate Blue + lime green (or whatever they call their colors.)

I wouldn't because I think the Seahawks' colors are bad. The navy is too close to the other blue, and the whole thing is drab as hell. Besides, the Mariners would have an iconic look if they brought back the old home cap, possibly wearing it on the road. Also, maybe go with a thicker stroke for the teal outlining on the home and road jerseys. To me it looks like the teal outline shrunk since 1995.

This is not a uniform change or anything, but it has to with the Rockies purple uniforms. A series of tweets from a Rockies beat writer.

No purple caps, though. Players hated them.

Rox still have ability to wear purple jerseys. Up to starting pitcher. Skip Tracy says he liked the look when he managed other teams.

Tell the players to piss up a rope. The Rockies should be wearing and always should've been wearing purple hats. Maybe it needs to be a darker, dustier purple, but please no more black hats.

Ultimately this is what is wrong with the Rockies' uniforms. The team (well, every other team too) should have a set routine for their uniforms. Alternates on designated days, no exceptions unless there is a clash. The Rockes should be wearing their purples at home on Sat or Sun games, with the vests for the road in the same situations.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

I agree.

In natural sunlight, it looks spectacular.

I posted these pictures a little while back for comparison. But these are inside my apartment at ASU, so the light might not be ideal. When I get back to school on Sunday, I'll try to get some pictures in the sunlight.
