I doubt Jeter would sign in Boston that would destroy everything he has meant to the Yankees, he would never be welcomed back. Even if he left and signed in Detroit lets say he will spend the rest of his life being the guest of honor at Old Timer's Day, being the ceremonial Yankee well into his 80s. All of that will be lost forever if he did that.

No it wouldn't. Right now you say that, but if Jeter plays a season or two with Boston it really won't matter. I mean people will definitely boo, but if Yankee fans are really stupid enough to hate Jeter forever for three seasons with the Sox after all he did for the Yankees, then they're all idiots. Even if he were to win a title with Boston, which I don't see happening, he still was such a legend with the Yankees that it'll eventually overshadow him leaving, no matter where he goes. Baseball is a business and the Yankees already encouraged him to look elsewhere for a better deal. If Boston happens to be ridiculous enough to offer Jeter what he wants, why would he not take it? Really, the only scenario I can see where the hate would be just barely justified is if the Sox happen to beat the Yanks in game 7 of the ALCS where Jeter goes 4 for 5 with the game winning RBI or something like that.

It would definitely put a huge taint on his legacy. Alot of Orioles fans have never forgiven Mike Mussina for signing with the Yankees (I couldn't blame him as he saw the begining of the disaster that would ensue here in Baltimore). People here gave him crap up until he retired. The Yankees-Red Sox rivalry is much more intense. He may not destory his legacy, but it may knock him down on the all-time Yankee list a few spots (ironically probably to the posistion he should be).

At the end of the day though I think he resigns with the Yankees. They really need each other. I think the Yankees are just bluffing right now. Each side will give in eventually.

Has Red Sox Nation ever really forgiven Wade Boggs for his brief stint in pinstripes?

Yes. We just have never really forgiven him for his lack of production in the postseason.

Why? He tried hard to produce, didn't he? Red Sox Nation Customers need to get over themselves if they dislike a guy because he didn't do well in the postseason.

What's wrong with not liking a particular player because he doesn't show up in the clutch? That's the best I can make out of that response. Personally, it makes absolutely no sense to me at all. Just because they wear the uniform you're rooting for, doesn't mean you have to like all 25 guys on the roster.

I also hope you're not referring to me as a Red Sox "Customer" rather than being a loyal fan since I can remember.

Exactly. He'll get some flack at first, but in the long run he's still the captain and helped them to five championships.

Because, it gets to the point where it is a disgusting mentality to have. People's lives change because a bunch of jackass fanboys have to hate someone in something meaningless like sports because they have a :censored: ty perspective on things or are miserable themselves inside. I'm not atttacking you here (because it may or may not apply to you), but what I am speaking of is seen too often.

No, I'm not questioning your fandom of the Red Sox; I'm saying that the term "fan" has been dead for years.

We are all customers.

Okay I'm not sayin just cause I am one, but the marlins will probably finish in second place in the NL East. This is because we fired Fredi Gonzalez(whose now gonna manage the Braves),and Edwin Rodriguez was good at the interim helm.with buck behind the plate, and Infante being able to play all over the place were, fine where we are.To bad Danny's gone though he was a big part of our team the past five years. Now Hanley will have to be the big leader in the clubhouse.

Wait are you one too? Cause if you are then that makes me like the only other marlins fan on this site.

Perhaps I should have clarified in my original post. I said "we" in response to the general collectiveness of Red Sox fans. Personally, I have no ill-will towards Boggs, as I was no more than a wee lad when he was putting on a Sox jersey everyday.

Wow. I really hope you got what he was actually saying and you were just messin back.

And I say the Marlins are gonna be middle of the division... if they're lucky. They've seem to be able to surprise everyone and be successful until late in the season for the past 5 years or so, but this team isn't gonna quite have as much as they have had. Plus, Gonzalez was a pretty decent manager who fell victim to a totally assanine and incompetent owner who is dillusional enough to think he knows more about how to run things on the field than the managers he hire, even though one of them won manager of the year in his first year managing in the bigs and then fired him because he dared try to do his job. The Marlins may have a chance to finish ahead of the Mets and Nationals, but the East is the Braves and Phillies division to battle for next year.

We're all marlins. Hey, maybe an upper deck peanut vendor died, I dunno.

Ugh. The Marlins have such a unique script, with the capital non-cursive letters and the hook tail, yet they ruin it by adding unnecessary outlines and having pinstripes all around it. The script in teal with a black outline (preferably orange, but that's not one of their colors... yet) on a plain white jersey, maybe with sleeve or neck piping. Would suggest placket piping, except that I don't think that either black or teal would look good.
