Rex-reacts-to-loss.gif

Stop tempting me to make that my avatar, Kevin.

Nah, I like my current one too much to mess with it.

I will say this in defense of Rex Ryan... did I just say that? I do give him credit for doing what he has done with the Jets, and how much he fights for and believes in his guys. Personally, I prefer a Bill Belichick or Mike McCarthy, but Mike Tomlin and Rex Ryan are coaches I could easily and understandably see a player fighting for.

Stop stealing my idea for next year's Rex Ryan loss avatar. As long as I can find a gif of him running towards the end zone as the win avatar. And there's no lockout ^_^

No, that'll be my Rex Ryan avatar if there's a lockout.

Rex Ryan: Lockout!? Oh, f***'in Hell naw!!!

Seriously, where are the Jets fans? I thought the bravado was too thick to be silenced by one little loss. Ah, I know, they are all consoling the weepy eyed, fat asshat douchenozzle of a coach they have.

Yes. Yes. Oh dear God one thousand times yes.

This proves that for all of the :censored: Rex Ryan talks, he just can't get it done when it really counts. He needs to shut the :censored: up and act like a real :censored:ing coach.

That's rich coming from a guy who ran his mouth for days on end about some meaningless college football game. A game that your team lost I might add.

Last time I checked, Arizona's head coach is Mike Stoops, not me. My conduct doesn't mean :censored: in the grand scheme of things.

Anyway, :censored: it, it's my avatar now.

All these posts since the Jets lost and not a single "agony of de-feet" Rex Ryan joke? You guys are losing it. :)

Steelers vs. Packers... an epic matchup in an epic stadium.

Pass.

I for one, will be rooting for the Steelers. Say what you will about the obnoxious fans, Benjamin's rapist ways, James Harrison's absolute lack of a brain, or whatever else it is, you can't deny that they flat out get it done on the field. You don't get to three Super Bowls in six seasons by some magical fluke, favoritism from the league, or whatever else the excuse will be. We all know we wish our teams could be as consistently successful as the Steelers. I am in no way a Steelers fan, but I'd just rather see them win over the Packers. Since I was a little kid I have just disliked the Packers. Aaron Rodgers is not only a kick ass quarterback, but he's also a Northern Californian who went to junior college in Oroville and played for UC Berkeley. I got to meet him when I was a junior in high school and he was a junior in college when Cal practiced at my high school for the week. He was an extremely nice guy and even signed a Cal hat for me. The only knock on him in my book is that he's a Packer. If they win I'd be happy for him as well as for a few friends who are Packers fans, but damn, I REALLY don't want to see Green Bay win.

In all honesty, I think that the Steelers will kick the tar out of the Packers, and I will probably see it only in highlights.

I'm inclined to agree. Who actually passes on the Super Bowl? Even if you hate both teams you watch it. Why? It's the G-ddamn Super Bowl.

So are the Steelers the new Cowboys, or were the Cowboys the new Steelers?

Anyway, that's a heck of an operation they're running there. The Steelers never really look like champions at the start of the NFL season, but they keep on making championship games. Wow.

That said, I'm rooting for the Packers. Does that bandwagon have room?

Anyone who watched the game could tell something had to be wrong with the way Sanchez kept having to run to the sideline before the huddle. And I definitely didn't see anything in the article that made it seem like he was blaming the headsets for the loss. You're reaching.

Mea culpa. I admit I didn't watch the whole game, so I probably missed that.

However, I still take pleasure in reveling in the Jets' failure, even if it came at the expense of seeing Ben Rapistberger win.

I have a friend who's not a big NFL fan, only watches the Super Bowl every year because it's a big social event and he likes the party. But before each Super Bowl, he picks who he wants to win by looking at each team's cheerleaders and rooting for the team with the hottest ones (in his opinion)...

So my question is - is this the first Super Bowl where neither team has a cheerleading squad?

Next year when the Chargers make the playoffs, I think they've got your friend's pick sealed up.

Well, that's just Chicago playoff luck. Cubs playing football.

Hey, at least you guys have a Super Bowl title to look back on.

That was 25 years ago. A lot of Bears fans are looking back on something they weren't alive for.

lol at the mixed-pejorative upthread where someone I've never seen here before referred to the complaining of "hayseed FIBs." Most Bears fans live by large shopping malls and larger traffic jams. Hayseed Illinoisans are the ones who would sell their souls for the return of the Chief Illiniwek dance. Either I've underestimated the cosmopolitan sophistication of Fond Du Lac, or someone's just playing Word Darts.

Luckily, my ever-dwindling emotional investment in the Chicago Bears and the game of football has inoculated me from any sort of heavy hand-wringing over this. I didn't even think they'd win five games all year. Anything can happen in the NFL, but my guess is they're just going to spin their wheels until Urlacher retires and they can dream it all up again. Whatevs; I would prefer to agonize over mundanities like Blackhawks regular season games and Cubs offseason moves.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
