I do expect a column about how he really wanted to try and like hockey, but the Bruins were so bad on the ice and Wirtzianly disrespectful to their New England faithful (ignoring the fact that the Bruins were a perennially above-average team until the late '90s) that he had no choice but to turn his back, and more people will go along with this than probably correctly assume that some meathead in an Orr sweater bullied him once.

I don't think Bob barker is much of a hockey fan

That being said, Stanley headed north of the bored.....finally.

I thought this happened in 2008 after the Lightning-Hurricanes-Ducks parade of non-parades.

Oops, teaches me to not proofread my posts....

Mark my words, this isnt the last you'll hear of Yzerman's Bolts.

I think I speak for everyone outside Tampa and Detroit when I say that we can't bear to hear another word.

FYI, some teams can't have parades *cough Ducks cough, because there is no where to have a parade.

Just because you can't have a parade doesn't mean you didn't win it. :D

Anaheim has no paved roads?

Paved roads + access to vehicles with tires = parade possibilities.

You need a downtown to have a parade, and as I understand it Anaheim doesn't have one or something. You need more than a road, you need a densely populated place.

Also really, you guys are hockey fans and don't want to watch the highest scoring team in the league vs Tim Thomas?

Nothing to complain about tonight. Great effort by both teams. Really just trying to enjoy the moment.

So two things will happen: Each Boston area team will have won a championship within the last 7 years, or a third Canadian team will have won a Stanley Cup the year after the city hosted the olmypics.

Either way it's gonna be a s****y outcome. I was all ready to pull for the Bruins untill you pointed that out.

Looks like I'll be cheering for "meteor hits arena" again.

Got hockeyed out after the Blackhawks lost. Besides, everyone should be hockeyed out by JUNE, JUNE WHEN THE FINAL STARTS on general principle.

I'll watch the :censored: out of this series. Its going to be a barn burner of a series. My gut says Vancouver will win, but I just cant count Boston out. I think its a great matchup.

I will give you the "bull :censored: NHL schedule" point for sure. Season ought to start September 1st, and this series should be starting sooner.

I'm hoping for something a bit more realistic: impromptu work stoppage.

So you have one team that's been waiting 40 years for a Cup and their first and one that's been waiting 37 years to get their sixth.

Should be a hell of a series, can't wait.

The Bruins did make the playoffs 30 (I think) years in a row, but it recent times, only made it to the Stanley Cup twice since 1980, both times losing to Edmonton. The Bruins ownership had traditionally been dead set against spending money on free agents, and the few times they did it were big busts (Al Iafrate and Kevin Stevens). The furthest haven't gotten to the conference finals since then, if I remember correctly, except during the reign of the Penguins.

Even now, it's not like this is a dominant team. The crappy power play unit, defensive lapses and inconsistency of Tim Thomas (even though he's probably going to win the Vezina) make it impossible to enter the Finals with any feeling of confidence. There were only two games, I think, where Tampa didn't score in the opening minute of a period, and if this continues, I see the cup draped in blue and green.
