You would think, being abroad, that any announce team would be an upgrade to Buck and McCarver... but Gary Thorne and Rick Sutcliffe are :censored:ing terrible too. Sutcliffe might be dumber than McCarver.

I know there are talented baseball broadcasters. Why do none call the :censored:ing World Series?

For a much as I hated Jon Miller pretentiously over-pronouncing (while still botching) Latin names, he was great, especially on radio. He has a great baseball voice and I liked listening to him call the World Series. I wouldn't mind him doing the playoffs again.

Another great voice is John Rooney of the Cardinals, formerly of the White Sox and Twins. I believe he used to do TV work, and he is as good as they come on play by play. I know a lot of people don't like Costas, but I believe we can all agree he is better than Buck.

I don't get the feeling that EITHER team has momentum at this point. If these first two games show anything, it's that they're both really evenly matched. I see this being a 7 gamer and the best series since 1997.

2001 says hello.

You make a decent argument and I thought about that, but if it weren't for Byung-Hyun Kim being such a giant piece of doo doo, that series would've been over pretty quick.

True, but any series could be drastically different if a few things happened differently. Sure, Kim's blown saves kept it a series, but it still saw three walk-off wins, including two in extra innings, and of course a blown save in game 7 against the best closer of all time. You can't beat that drama.

yup, what a great series, I got to go to game 5 and it was crazy the entire Yankee stadium was shaking!!!

I've gotten to be a big fan of Dan Shulman calling the game. The local cardinal's broadcaster had the feed from ESPN radio last night and even with Bobby Valentine on, it was much better than Buck and McCarver.

When I was a kid growing up in the Cincinnati area, we used to mute the tv so we could have the radio call of Marty Brennaman and Joe Nuxhall on while we watched the game.

Tell you what, I miss Bob Carpenter, now doing Nationals games, when he used to do the Cardinals. And while Joe will never be anywhere close to his Dad, he's not too bad, when seperated from McCarver (great Cardinal, probably the worst color commentator ever) and not so "laid back". He's definitely gotten the being neutral part down of being a non-specific team play-by-play guy, but he just lacks any of the excitement that should still be in the job description.

You also have to remember that game 6 was a snoozefest blowout by Arizona.

That certainly detracted from the series, but as I said earlier, three walk-offs and a blown save in game 7 by the best closer of all time, essentially ending a Yankee dynasty is more than enough drama for me. I was "in the moment" more for that series than any other one, even when my team won. Maybe I was spoiled because in 2005, the White Sox were such a force that, even in the close games, there somehow wasn't any doubt in my mind they would win. I'm sure I would have been a wreck if the series went 6 or 7.

Joe Buck would be perfect as one of those weather channel reporters that hangs out in the bad weather of the moment.

And the floodgates are opening up in Texas, finally. 5-3 Cards, Texas has hit two homers in the 4th.

For all the misery they have caused with their voices, Karma suggest one day Joe Buck and Tim Mcarver will be mute if there is any justice in the world
