Kramerica Industries
There've been about 600 posts in this thread in the past week, and, like, 580 of them have to do with Cardinals insanity. The other 20 are my inane babble about the Yankees. STL FANATIC
I know a lot of you guys hate it, but obviously I'm thrilled. If you read my posts here and my tweets all game, you know I never stopped believing at all. And yet. I still can't believe they just did something like this again.October happens.I was ready to call it a decent salvage of a disappointing year and throw my support behind the Nationals the rest of the way, but this team just doesn't stop until the final out. There's series has been a microcosm of the entire season for the Cardinals. The one unknown was what they'll do when they absolutely have to succeed or go home. So far, in 2 games, they've found a way.I'm obviously thrilled. I love playoff baseball. JUSTIN STRIEBEL | PORTFOLIO | RESUME | CONTACT
DCDuck
I dunno what else to say except that it was a gamble putting the game in the hands of a 25-year-old kid who had only pitched half the season, and had pitched the previous two days without any rest.Davey should have pulled Storen after the Descalso hit tied the game. You could tell he was out of it.Bryce Harper swinging at a pitch above his head? Yeah... that says all that needs to be said about the difference in maturity level between the two teams. We're young. We needed that sting to wake us up. Hopefully it will keep all of our guys hungry going into next season. The little consolation I take is that we were picked to finish fourth in the NL East this season and had the best record in baseball. That is no small task. Still... uggggh!
DaytonBlue
Does anyone have any idea what he's talking about? Are the Cardinals "that F'N team?" Or does he mean that any time a WC team gets to the World Series, they become "that F'N team?" People generally enjoy seeing the underdog do well. I don't recall anyone getting too bent out of shape over most of the teams he mentioned.I don't think it's beef with the Cardinals themselves, though it may be, I don't know, but more because of the BFIB nonsense, Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. The BFIB stuff started during the McGwire era. The first time I read about it was in Sports Illustrated. As a Cards fan, I find it a bit annoying but it seems to be mostly media/team generated. In the 2004 World Series, Joe Buck received criticism in St. Louis for trying so hard to be neutral that he sounded like he favored the Red Sox. I think he has a fine line to walk and he does the best he can. He will never be Jack though. Tim McCarver should retire. That is all about him. I cannot defend him even though I live within walking distance of the old site of Tim McCarver Stadium in Memphis. But he did say we see "that F'N team" every year. Doesn't that rule out the idea that he's referring to the Cardinals? Better yet, are we really sitting here trying to decipher a dfwabel post? As a Cards fan, I find it a bit annoying but it seems to be mostly media/team generated. BFIB has been around a lot longer than that. I remember announcers talking about how great Cards fans were all the way back in the early 80's. The rest of us may not like it, but St. Louis is a great baseball town. Are they the "best?" That's certainly open to debate, but they are certainly among the best fans in baseball. To argue that they aren't is just silly. All roads lead to Dollar General. dfwabel
Since the WildCard, we see such a team come in most of the time: 97 Marlins; 2000 Mets; 2002 Giants; 03 Marlins; 05 Astros; 06 Tigers; 07 Rockies; 2011 CardsUsually, we get to see "That F'N team". For 2012, "that F'N team" is the Birds on Bat.This is why I think it's unfair that people give those Braves teams crap for only winning one title. Anyone can win.Exactly, "That F'N team" refers to the one team on a late season streak, which you do not want to meet.97 Marlins were assisted by the late Eric Gregg.07 Rockies had that long winning streak before then end of the season.10 Giants won the NL West in the last week of the season with dominant staff11 Cards were on a streak before the end of the season
OnWis97
What do the Yanks, Giants, Hitler, Bin Laden, Sandusky, Casey Anthony, and now the Cards have in common?PURE EVIL. Destroying the lives of innocent people wherever they go. What the Cards did is sickening to DC fans. This is the most silent I've seen DC fans all year.But...you are a LAKERS fan. A :censored:ing Lakers fan. Really, "the Yanks, Giants...PURE EVIL." when you are a Lakers fan? I saw a billboard for FSN on the way into town that said "You're the Best Fans In Baseball" and I wanted to piss in a bottle so I could throw it at it. It can't be enough for St. Louis to have intelligent and passionate baseball fans (which by all means they absolutely do), but now they have to be the fairest and the smartest and the mostest bestest in the whole wide world. Good God, y'all, you're the same dopey midwesterners blitzed on marked-up domestic beer as the ones in Chicago and Milwaukee. You just color-coordinate better. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

LMU
Albert Pujols says what. That $254 million looks pretty nice next to the two rings I already have.---Cards and Giants. Ugh. It's safe to say that all of Southern California is pulling for whoever makes it out of the junior circuit.I may even have to pull for the Yankees. dfwabel
Going into Game 5 on Thursday, the Athletics did assist to doom themselves regardless of Verlander on the mound. Look at the timing of the press release. The original third level was to be open if they made the ALCS with all seats at $55.

Why would Angels fans root for the Yankees or Tigers? It's not like Angels fans have a real reason to dislike the Giants or Cardinals. I actually like the Giants quite a bit, probably my 2nd favorite team.
Seadragon76
I think it's fair to say that no team should ever put the St. Louis Cardinals in a winner-takes-all situation because all the Cards do is win. Plain and simple, they just win. For that, I give St. Louis all the credit in the world for making that comeback last night in Washington.Heck, I'm all for seeing the Cards win it all again because, hey... They're aren't the Yankees
