Miami and Louisville have really done the metallic/chrome thing right on the helmet logos. More teams should do it, especially some on Nike's more modern looking "pro combat"-esque schools.

Frankly, I thought Texas Tech looked did them best.

Was referring to Nike schools, not UA's although I don't mind it on them.

Not sure why the uni mfg matters when talking about helmet decals. Not like Tech wears a traditional template.

This is the best Baylor has looked all year.

Even though the media says that's a throwback to when Floyd Casey Stadium opened in 1950, Baylor's uniform also resembles what they wore in 1974 when they surprised everyone to win their first Southwest Conference title in 50 some years. Also a similar scenario since OU upsetting Okie State opened the door for the Bears to win the Big 12 outright. In '74 Texas beat TAMU the day before Baylor bombarded Rice. The Aggies could have controlled their own destiny by beating their in-state rivals. If that had played out Baylor winning would have had the Bears and Aggies tied for first, with TAMU getting the tie breaker by their victory over Baylor a month earlier.

Yeah, that's the one thing about the current helmets I'd fix.

Make the pitchfork sized somewhere in between the regular helmet and the number helmets and keep it on both sides. The regular pitchfork needs to be a little bigger, but not that big.

Funny you should mention that, because I picked up one of the maroon mini helmets and that's exactly how the fork is on that helmet. It's right in between the two actual decals in terms of size. It's big enough to cover most of the helmet rather than leave all that blank space you get with the current logo, yet doesn't overpower and can easily fit on both sides of the helmet. It also is simplified a bit as it's just a die cut outline, and I absolutely LOVE that.

IMO, when it comes to the pitchforks, the bigger the better. I don't hate it only being on one side with the number as a compliment on the other side, but It's not my favorite look either. Those forks should damn near overpower the helmet. I'm not sure how to exactly explain it, there's something that just kinda fits the Sun Devil theme with the big and in your face logo. It's kind of loud and distracting I guess, if that makes any sense. Seems fitting for a school that uses an imp as their mascot.
