infrared41
There are going to be a whole lot of disappointed prognosticators around here. Auburn isn't passing Ohio State. If the poll voters were willing to penalize an undefeated team, Northern Illinois wouldn't be ranked ahead of LSU and Oklahoma and Auburn would have already passed Ohio State. You know, before all this Auburn talk, I was OK with the Buckeyes not being in the title picture but I'm about over this total lack of respect for the Buckeyes. I don't care if they lose by 50, I want the Buckeyes to make the NCG just because it will piss off so many of you. The whining will be -ing glorious. And what happens if, God forbid, Ohio State actually wins the NC?

alxy8s
The best part of the Georgia game was that the Dawgs went down 20 and allllllll the "football doesn't matter!!" Tech fans came out of the woodwork. It's hard to get a gratifying win over GT, but this definitely qualified. Auburn has had so much go their way lately, it's hard to see them not making the NCG somehow.

A few weeks back on BAFS, I told Zach that if it turns out to be Ohio State and FSU in the title game and Ohio State wins, all we'll hear is "you didn't beat Alabama...blah blah blah." rams80
What a boneheaded decision by Saban. As boneheaded as boneheaded can get.Not boneheaded at all. Kicking the FG is the smart play normally. Xist2inspire
The sad part of this is now I have to listen to all the idiots in my state brag about "doing what Alabama couldn't."*sigh*(I live in Baton Rouge, btw) Tradition is the foundation of innovation, and not the enemy. Kramerica Industries
well, jeez, one of my 'Nole loving brothers was giving me that same kind of crap just earlier tonight when we were talking about Florida State beating a non-SEC team.I know we're talking about national perception, so it's a somewhat different discussion, but, jeez, I know that personally I'd hate it the exact same way regardless of who Florida State beats in the NCG. Whether it's Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, WHOEVER THE HELL, I'll be throwing all my support behind them. There's a big problem when there's always a "yeah, but" factor to who wins the championship. You play what the rankings throw out at you. It wouldn't be Ohio State's fault (or Florida State's fault) if an SEC team falls short of the game. (this sounds a bit too angry; it's not really meant to be that way.)

bigmike
I hate life right now, Auburn deserved to win they played great but seriously they've got destiny on their side, how the hell does the game end like that? dbadefense1990
So here's guessing that Auburn will leapfrog tOSU in the BCS should they win the Iron Bowl.To rehash this statement I posted about 4 hours ago, will Auburn now leapfrog tOSU in the BCS? Especially after this classic-of-a-finish we all witnessed.

Still MIGHTY
There are going to be a whole lot of disappointed prognosticators around here. Auburn isn't passing Ohio State. And what happens if, God forbid, Ohio State actually wins the NC? Here's the problem. Assume everything holds and Mizzou beats Texas A&M, and Clemson beats South Carolina. Ohio State at #2, Auburn #3, Mizzou #4 and Michigan State is in at #10. Going into the week, OSU had a full point on Auburn in the BCS, but I'm going to assume a win over #1 will bring that margin closer with OSU's win over a non-ranked Michigan.Auburn would then have beaten the #1 and #4 teams in consecutive weeks and OSU would have beaten the #10 team. Are two wins over top 4 teams in consecutive weeks enough to push Auburn over the Buckeyes? Undefeated or not, Auburn would have the more impressive resume. Ohio State would only have three wins over ranked teams (then #23 Wisconsin, @ then #16 Northwestern, who we now see was horribly overestimated, and over #10 Michigan State in the B1G game) and Auburn would have wins over five ranked teams (#24 Ole Miss, @ then #7 Texas A&M, vs then #25 Georgia, and #4 Mizzou in the SEC game. And Auburn's one loss was @ then #6 LSU).It just depends if the human polls stick to the undefeated rule, and how the ranked wins factor into the computer formulas (which, as we discussed, Greg, make no sense with one having NIU at #3.) Thankfully, we've only got one more week left to sort that all out.(Plus Greg, if OSU makes the title game, they can't lose to Arizona State in the Rose Bowl! You wouldn't want to miss out on that! ) | ANA | LAA | LAR | LAL | ASU | CSULB | USMNT | USWNT | LAFC | OCSC | MAN UTD |
