rxmc89
A's tweet out image of the throwbacks they are wearing this weekend to honor their 1989 WS team. A patch for Bob Welch also. Looks like a double-knit, which is a good call there. Nameplate also. But they are using their current sleeve patch and the MLB logo is still on back of jersey. EDIT: That's SO much different from what they wear now. I bet A's fans who already have the home jersey are going to rush out to buy that.
Old School Fool
It's a really minor difference and a lighter green, i believe.lol at them getting Jose Canseco. That dude is a turd.
FiddySicks
What was different about the sleeve patch they used back in 89? On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.)
phutmasterflex
What was different about the sleeve patch they used back in 89?Notice on the old jerseys the blanket on the elephant was gold. The current ones are white. Go A's!
BBTV
Nothing really wrong with an Oakland script on the road, but their home jerseys should simply have an A or A's on the chest. FinalBeast
The Braves posted a picture on Instagram showing that they will once again be wearing this years Stars and Stripes hat along with the military appreciation jerseys tonight to honor the Marines. Is this the first time a team has worn a Stars and Stripes hat for more than just one game?
phutmasterflex
They're doing the introductions right now. A's players are not in throwbacks. The 89 WS team players are though Go A's!

I like the Athletics wordmark on the home whites of the 80's and 90's. The A's on the chest looks good too though. "Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong." CubsFanBudMan
Teams seem to be randomly picking a day and designating it as such.Seems like a minor-league tactic, but then again, MLB outfield walls didn't have ads when I was growing up either. CubsFanBudMan
All I was saying is that "Military Appreciation Day" is not the Fourth of July or Memorial Day. Instead, it's closer to "Christmas in July" or "Halfway to St. Patrick's Day" -- simply a promotional day, not a holiday. I believe that's what 'flex was asking. That gamut has run its course.I don't recall any post in this thread stating that the military sucks. Accusing teams of pandering isn't the same as being anti-military. An opinion of pandering is perfectly valid for this thread. Opinions on the military's effectiveness or motives or anything else would be a thread for the lounge.. or some other message board entirely. If you can't understand why many people are against these bogus tributes without assuming that it's because people are anti-military, then you're too biased to participate.
