Though I'm happy for Red Sox fans, I'm also saddened that this could have been the Dodgers. I feel like Bill Murray at the end of "Space Jam":

"That could have been me the Dodgers."

"Would you let it go? It's over."

"You're right."

*sniffles*

"Let's go Bulls Red Sox."

The Red Sox did have the best regular season record, so I guess it's only fair they win the World Series. And congrats to Mike Napoli on his first ring and whatever...

But other than that, Boston can go screw.

I can't feel good about Boston winning their eighth major sports championship since the Patriots' first Super Bowl. Do you people even understand how lucky you are?

Ugh... Gag me.

Mild-congrats to Boston. You guys can piss up a rope, but you did what you had to do. Enjoy remaining the most tedious sports city in America.

My half-condolences to the Cardinals fans. You guys are mostly alright, and I know how it sucks to lose in big games, but you're spoiled all to hell with championships, so bugger off as well.

I am beyond blessed to be a Boston sports fan. Another championship for the "collection" and I could not be more proud of this group. Built on guts, personality, and hustle; not on star power.

Congrats, Red Sox! You guys deserve it and thank you!

Who deserves the most credit for beginning this renaissance of Boston sports? Walt Coleman or Mo Lewis?

Well, even though I absolutely HATED Tim McCarver as a sportscaster, I do have to say that the 96 Yankees Braves series, which was McCarver's first, is the first series I ever remember watching all the way through. so that's in some ways bittersweet.

I've gotta post this one final time.

Now watch FOX really piss me off and replace him with Hawk Herrelson, or even worse, Vin Scully.

Vin Scully barely leaves his Dodger booth. No way.

Hawk's bullcrap style is PERFECT for Fox, but part of his bullheaded horrible charm is how much of a die-hard homer he is. It's too important that he live and die so blatantly with the White Sox.

1) I don't know why they'd replace a color analyst with a play-by-play guy.

2) No way in hell Vin leaves the Dodgers. Plus even if he did, which he wouldn't, he'd probably restrict himself to West Coast games like he does with the Dodgers.

3) You bite your tongue. Vin is a saint!

1) Because they're FOX.

2) Yeah I don't really see it happening, but maybe he'll be a bit more apt to travel if he's only gotta do it for 7 games since he's retiring after next season anyway.

3) As a Giants fan, I just can't sta... Nope. I'm not even gonna open up that can of worms any further :P

Only a Giants fan would be open in declaring that Scully is a detestable choice for play-by-play. Mind you he's responsible for some of the greatest moments in all of sports.

Vin Scully barely leaves his Dodger booth. No way.

For the last couple of years, he's only broadcasted games within the NL West. And even then, he doesn't travel to Denver anymore to do Dodgers-Rockies games.

Well the idea isn't as far-fetched as it seems. Joe Garagiola was the main man in the late-1970s/early-1980s for NBC, but was switched to the color booth once Vin Scully came on board.

So is it safe to assume the Stanley Cup playoff beard tradition can be successfully applied for baseball's postseason?

The beard thing was all season. Hockey playoff beards can last two months, baseball postseason is barely a month.

Most of the team had beards by mid-September, the rest grew them out for solidarity (except for Tazawa and Uehara).
