So the second round in the east is going to be Montreal vs Boston and Pittsburgh vs, most likely, the Rangers.

Yuck.

The Blues sure played the final minutes terribly. There's less than 20 seconds left and you dump it in deep. Didn't muster a shot on net in all that mess. I love the fire and the Blue Jackets have some end-season momentum per se but yeah, that big comeback was for naught.

Pretty much. As McCarthy has said, the Jackets are the worst team in hockey when the goalie is pulled - be it their goalie or their opponent's goalie.

I'd like to also not give any credit to the Penguins for anything.

I like the sentiment, but the truth is that the Penguins are the better team. When we were previewing the playoffs on BASS, I said the Jackets taking this series to six games would exceed my expectations. It sucks that it's over, but I'm very happy with the season these Jackets had. Hopefully, Nathan Horton will be available for a full season next year. If they can pick up some size on the blue line (that's me trying to sound cool instead of just saying get some bigger defensemen) and Johansen, Dubinsky, Calvert, et al continue to improve, this team could make a lot of noise next season.

The Jackets...what a way to go out. The Penguins were the better team, and I guess their win in this series was inevitable. Still, what a run by Columbus. It should be fun to keep an eye on them in the future.

New York/Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh would have some entertainment, especially the latter. I'm hoping the former, but that's because I want that 2015 1st round pick from the Rangers.

Montreal vs. Boston, yeah, to hell with that.

I'm actually looking forward to Boston - Montreal. It's the traditionalist in me. I just can't help myself. B)

And a Rangers win over Philly would certainly make the Jackets loss a little easier to digest. (Seriously, am I the only person here who's paying attention to that series?)

The Blue Jackets won that series 2-4.

Showed the hockey world who we are and finally arrived on the scene. Couldn't be more proud of this team and my fellow Blue Jackets fans.

Can't wait for October because the future is finally bright.

Given that I'm a quasi-Rangers fan by nature and they have my favorite player in the NHL on their team (who, surprise surprise, is delivering this postseason), I have an obligation to watch them. Also, that 2015 1st round pick that I mentioned earlier would be really nice, and the Lightning get it if the Rangers advance to the Conference Final.

Actually, that team has several ex-Bolts on them; Brad Richards, Martin St. Louis, Benoit Pouliot, and Dominic Moore. The four of them have combined for seven goals in that series, which says something considering New York has scored 13 goals total.

Avs/Wild - NHL on TSN on CNBC

And those Jackets. They almost did it again. The difference in this series was that Bobrovsky was never really better than Fleury, Game 4 gaffe aside. Had Bobrovsky come up with a couple more saves here and there, the Jackets are either winning or going to Game 7, because I truly do believe Columbus out worked Pittsburgh in this series. But alas, a tremendous effort and season for the CBJs. Congrats on that. We'll be seeing them around for a while.
