Midway
ESPN NFL countdown is spending their first half hour yelling at me about how abuse is bad but they were all struck as kids. Then Ray Lewis emotionally barfs up some gospel about the worldwide issue of violence to women. Ditka was Ditka. Was just coming on here to mention this. Very awkward when it came to Ray Lewis' testimony.

infrared41
And there are already photos:My guess is these photos were taken a day or two after the beating. As someone who is all too familiar with the business end of a "switch", I can tell you that these photos don't do the weapon switch justice. The first few hours after a switch beating are the most enjoyable. The welts are still nice and swollen. Your pants rub against those welts adding a nice burning sensation to compliment the pain from the beating and the clear liquid that runs out of the welts (my GF says it's plasma) make your clothing stick. Fun stuff. At least we can take comfort in the fact that, by the time he's 53, this 4 year old kid probably won't remember being beaten with a switch. DS729
So far this year, RG3 hasn't been able to hit the broad side of a barn, and has likely re-torn his ACL. Really proud of losing 2 first round picks for one solid year out of this guy. I'd wish for the Redskins to beat the hell out of Jacksonville for those stupid-ass helmets, but I make no promises. Replay looks like a broken ankle, but people say he was favoring his knee. Either way, gotta wonder if it IS an ACL/MCL/both, wouldn't this be potentially the end of the RGIII era in Washington? Makes me feel a little better about the Rams trading that number one pick. Still would of been without a QB more than likely. Cardinals -- Rams -- Blues -- Tigers -- Liverpool Check out my music! I don't know it was a really awkward landing, but I was only talking about the knee because he's had a history with that. But if Cousins can keep this up for an extended period of time (unlikely), he shouldn't be in too much of a hurry to get back. And an injured Jackson doesn't really help either. Lee Noire
I don't know how to feel about the AP situation at all. As a kid I was whopped with switches (that most times I had to pull off the tree myself), belts, once with a hot wheels track, and extension cords. As a teen, then as an adult, I think back to those times before I do something stupid and I'm better for it. I have had marks from it, though I never bled. At the same time I wish they had known a different way to go about disciplining. My parents are just from a different era, but they have come down from that as they got older.I have spanked my child, but I only ever used an open palm. Sometimes it's just necessary. I think AP was just doing what he knew to be discipline and didn't know his own strength. That's what I got from his texts that were released. After the fact he realized he may have gone overboard, but still felt he did what was expected of him as a father. Maybe now he will learn that the old ways aren't exactly the right ways, and he will find seek out better ways to get the job done.

They went through these beatings, understand how damaging it is to a kid, and just how :censored:ing painful it is, yet they turn around and do it to their kids. And if your response is "Well it happened to me and I turned out ok." No, you didn't.

To the point where they may end up in trouble that could have potentially been life threatening or harmful to themselves or another person. Pain can and will reinforce the negative consequences of and deter behavior along that spectrum at least. Still, I wouldn't bust out weapons either.
