Recap of the CFP semis:

Fantastic game out in Pasadena (both in aesthetics and on the field action- a classic and my Dawgs came out on top!) with both teams in their traditional home and road sets:

The Sugar Bowl gave us the usual "big game" orange britches for Clemson and the standard Bama set. Also a classic looking game:

For the natty, Georgia is the higher seed and will likely wear its home tops. On the other hand, I could see my Dawgs continue with the white given the recent success in big games (SEC title game and Rose Bowl). Coach Smart likes to instill a "business trip" attitude for away games.

Also, I noticed an odd word mark in the Alabama end zone. It used a rounded edge on the letters that I've never seen them use before.

I'm dealing with this right now at home.  My 9 year old has an annoying follower in his class who decided one day to make fun of my kid's shoes because there wasn't any visible manufacturer's logo to be seen.  My son asked me why it was so important for some of his friends to always wear Nike shoes. He's a pretty smart kid, so he basically only had to ask two questions.  His first question... "What's so special about Nike shoes?"  My answer... "They cost four times as much as yours, for no readily identifiable reason... that's kind of special."  His second question... "Why does having that name on the side of their shoes mean so much to some guys?'  My answer... "Some of your friend are mouth-breathing idiots who get their self-esteem out of boxes." Those answers seem to satisfy him for now. I'm sure when he's a teenager we'll have to revisit this crap.

There's obviously only one real solution here. You're gonna have to start your own shoe company and charge everyone $500 for a pair.

as a semi pro photographer, I love the heck out of this photo. Hard for me to get one bc my high school teams rarely kick FGs.

-I could see UGa sticking with the white. Steelers did that against Arizona in Super Bowl.

-It did look a little odd to me 2.

I feel like Nike may have their opinion heard before its all said and done.

I forgot it was in Atlanta... Lol this really is like a second SEC Championship game.

There's going to be a lot of red (in different shades), but is Georgia wearing their home uniforms? They're technically (and practically) the home team.

Per the team's Twitter, Georgia will be wearing the home reds.

Love the decision to roll with the obvious uniform choice instead of overthinking it with the recent success in white (or god forbid, a blackout). However, the patch sucks. It makes the jersey too busy and the date just feels off. I get that the calendar flipped, but the game caps the 2017 season and the winner will claim the 2017 national championship. Would rather just use the stylized trophy/football without the numbers.

I feel like I'm missing something.  But isn't this the Championship for the 2017 Season?  Did they do this for every year?  Or was this a mistake?

Happens every year as far back as I can remember.

This is how it’s been for all three CFP National Championship games before this one. The game technically determines the champion for the 2017/18 season, and since the game takes place in the new year, it’s officially labeled as the 2018 CFP National Championship Game, hence the 2(=)18 patch. It was the same in the BCS era, it just wasn’t as obvious since the patch wasn’t just the year.bcs.jpg

Yeah, they go by the year the game is played because playing the 2017 championship game in 2018 is confusing as hell. That's partly why the NFL went to numbering the Super Bowls chronologically instead of by year.

I do wish Nike would do something different for NDSU.

You'd think they'd have done something by now, being that they are one of, if not the face of the FCS in recent years.
