#6 USC goes down. It seems like when Stanford is unranked and USC is high, Stanford beats them(see 2012).

I had money on USC so of course they lost.

I'm really not buying the PAC 12 Southern California teams. After the first week of the year, I was really concerned about what they could do to Arizona State. As of now, I think the Devils have a very good shot at taking them both down if they're offense can finally get it together.

The same ASU that waited until the 4th quarter to pull away from :censored: ing Cal Poly last week? I'm not as sure as I was before the season. They'll give them a shot, for sure, if only because I think everyone, including myself, did a lot of overrating the Pac-12 going into the season. All of these teams (UCLA, USC, ASU, Arizona, Stanford, Oregon) can be had, especially by each other.

I was at that USC game yesterday and the Trojan defense simply couldn't get Stanford off the field, especially in that second half. 8/12 on third down in the game. And USC's offense was fine, but not of the quality smashings of Arkansas State/Idaho would have led you to believe.

Both Arizona State and USC have a hell of a lot to prove next Saturday in Tempe.

I think this is the biggest thing with the Pac-12 that’s gonna hurt them — already, four of these six teams have losses, and they play each other enough that they’re maybe gonna put themselves out of contention.

You could have said the same about the SEC West last year (and still possibly this year) but Alabama found its way through the smoke to make the playoff (and get smoked by Ohio State, but they made it.) And all of the four losses are to current Top 25 teams. Northwestern/Stanford and Stanford/USC and Texas A&M/Arizona State look like bad losses to unranked teams in their moments, but who knows how we'll judge those at the end of the season.

But yes, let's say you get OSU/MSU, Baylor/TCU, SEC champ and either undefeated Notre Dame or undefeated Florida State, then definitely, the Pac could be in trouble if they beat each other up.

That's the thing with overall conference strength. Does an elite team get stronger from the tests and rise above or is it so competitive that everyone meets at the middle? Maybe the PAC-12 actually is the best conference, but destroys itself from the inside. Who knows?

I've said it before here, but I'd WAY rather have a conference that can cannibalizes itself a bit than have a conference like the B1G where tOSU is probably going to destroy everyone because the competition is so weak.

A strong or weak conference is so subjective. The B1G is probably not as good as the SEC top to bottom. But saying the competition is so strong in the SEC is based off of arbitrary rankings made before the season starts. I understand it's the only way to measure the strength of a conference or schedule but it's not always accurate. Look at Auburn, for instance. They shouldn't even be ranked but they were in the top 10 in the beginning.

Yep, another reason I hate the Big Ten.

As an FSU fan, I actually think the ACC is fun in a watered down scramble of a conference. While there haven't been many huge games lately, at least the conference offers entertaining parity to a degree. The ACC also seems to have a truly diverse mix of programs- adding to its entertainment value.

Chatter on the radio last week... about fans winning NFL millions off of players who might not even be making $500,000 or whatever. Essentially players might soon want a cut of the action or else.

DFS (new acronym to me!) is absolutely gambling. On the other hand, the NCAA is immoral and exists to enrich itself off the backs of poorly compensated labor that is unable to fairly organize and advocate for itself. So my reaction is the NCAA can piss up a rope.

While legal in most states, the NCAA is prohibiting their labor, err "student-athletes" from participating in DFS, as they will lose their eligibility.

The Human Jukebox....Southern University's marching band.....spelled out the halftime score of today's Southern-Georgia game during their halftime show. They had maybe 5 minutes of actual time to get that organized. That was very impressive, as was the rest of their show. Very cool!

Meanwhile, an update on today's Kansas-Rutgers game:

Why didn't they review the guy getting out of bounds on the last Tennessee first down? Seems to me he was out. The clock would've stopped at 10 seconds left and Tennessee could've gotten more upfield then called a timeout.

Gosh how I wish those bastards would play Miami every year.

I don't know, really. It was a pretty terrible officiating crew as far as reviewing plays goes. I can think of four plays off the top of my head that should have been reviewed and either weren't, or in one instance, Tennessee had to take a timeout after a Florida timeout for them to look at whether or not a Florida player stepped out of bounds when he very clearly did.

By the way, that Dobbs kid is electric on the ground (plus Florida needs some tackling drills), but outside of their trick plays, the passing game was non-existent, which was the case against Oklahoma too.
