(Shameless plug alert) I wouldn't shut up about it on BASS and now I'm saying it here. The Rangers were doomed the minute they clinched the President's Trophy. :hockeysmiley:

Anyway, I like the Lightning and their jerseys.

I really don't get the Tampa hate around here...

They banned opposing fans from wearing the opposing team's jersey inside most if not all the arena. They took away a lot of people's freedom.

The clubs that policy was for account for maybe 15% of the seating. Not most, not all. Attacking freedom since '93.

So I decided to check the official track record for President's Trophy winners, and the stats are not as bad as I thought...

Year Presidents' Trophy Playoff Result

2015 New York Rangers Lost Semifinal (Tampa Bay)

2014 Boston Bruins Lost Quarterfinal (Montreal)

2013 Chicago Blackhawks Won Stanley Cup

2012 Vancouver Canucks Lost Preliminary (Los Angeles)

2011 Vancouver Canucks Lost Final (Boston)

2010 Washington Capitals Lost Preliminary (Montreal)

2009 San Jose Sharks Lost Preliminary (Anaheim)

2008 Detroit Red Wings Won Stanley Cup

2007 Buffalo Sabres Lost Semifinal (Ottawa)

2006 Detroit Red Wings Lost Preliminary (Edmonton)

2004 Detroit Red Wings Lost Quarterfinal (Calgary)

2003 Ottawa Senators Lost Semifinal (New Jersey)

2002 Detroit Red Wings Won Stanley Cup

2001 Colorado Avalanche Won Stanley Cup

2000 St. Louis Blues Lost Preliminary (San Jose)

1999 Dallas Stars Won Stanley Cup

1998 Dallas Stars Lost Semifinal (Detroit)

1997 Colorado Avalanche Lost Semifinal (Detroit)

1996 Detroit Red Wings Lost Semifinal (Colorado)

1995 Detroit Red Wings Lost Final (New Jersey)

1994 New York Rangers Won Stanley Cup

1993 Pittsburgh Penguins Lost Quarterfinal (New York)*

1992 New York Rangers Lost Quarterfinal (Pittsburgh)

1991 Chicago Blackhawks Lost Preliminary (Minnesota)^

1990 Boston Bruins Lost Final (Edmonton)

1989 Calgary Flames Won Stanley Cup

1988 Calgary Flames Lost Quarterfinal (Edmonton)

1987 Edmonton Oilers Won Stanley Cup

1986 Edmonton Oilers Lost Quarterfinal (Calgary)

The last time a first overall team won the Stanley Cup was the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013. 4 Stanley Cup Champions in the last 15 years isn't that bad. The Canucks could have made it 5, had they not blew games 6 and 7. Many of the rest made the Conference Finals. It's only been a 2 year drought. :) And it's a far better statistic then the last time a Canadian team won the Cup.

Not much to hate about the Bolts. They play uptempo finesse-based hockey, they have a solid fanbase, and they've built the team quite well.

Yeah, no kidding. There's always the one guy in a series loss who just looks like hell, and Lundqvist always seems to be that guy for the Rangers.

It's too bad we've got no chance of beating the Ducks or 'Hawks. Western Conference is Bestern Conference and all of that...

Congrats on your team's win tonight!

IMHO, if Anaheim wins game 7, the Blackhawks won't win another Cup this decade.

The salary cap is going to tear them apart.

This feels like their last ride in a way, whether tomorrow or against Tampa.

You know who I feel for? Cory Conacher.

The primary guy who was traded for Ben Bishop 2 years ago.

That's looking like one of the great train robberies of the last decade.

Whatever became of that 4th round pick that was also included in the trade?

It's simple, really...

Also, some advice. Going "I don't understand why everyone hates my team!" is the best way to get more people to hate your team.

Only if they already hate them. Tampa Bay fans saying, "why does everyone hate our team?" isn't going to make me hate them. Ducks fans on the other hand. Not that I need another reason to hate the ducks.

Yeah, thanks for bringing that up.

I'm not too upset about that trade, sometimes you get a Yashin for Spezza + Chara and sometimes you get a Conacher for Bishop. Besides Ottawa still has Anderson (plus Lehner and now Hammond, O'Connor, and Driedger) in the system so it's not like it affected us that much.

As for the 4th round pick, that turned into Tobias Lindberg. He's just come over to the OHL to play for Oshawa the past season and he's excelled, winning the league as well. He's one of Ottawa's brightest prospects at the moment.
