IceCap
A classic thread. Poke around and notice how things have and haven't changed. There were more pro-Coyotes people in May 2009 than there are now.Second post. "They have eight weeks to work out a deal." The_Admiral
Also, it looks really low-rent when a franchise folds, and would make me roll my eyes at the NHL yet again. Sport
15,000 reported for last nights Coyotes-Blue Jackets tilt. Yeah right. That place was dead.BTW, are any of you like me and you pronounce Coyotes as Kai-yotes in a silly, old-timey prospector sort of way? This silly organization deserves a silly pronounciation. Sodboy13
http://boards.sports...ack-in-the-gameA classic thread. Poke around and notice how things have and haven't changed. There were more pro-Coyotes people in May 2009 than there are now.Oh, man. good times. There was a minor league hockey tema called the roadrunners before the coyotes came. There are passionate hockey fans in Phoenix. Losing seasons in such a bangwagon town does that.Good Lord, how did I miss that the first time around? The NHL will still find a way to screw this up. Why let a guy with real money into the league when they can keep bleeding debt in the desert. right?Lamicus, you've done it again! Lee.
It's a gift. Unless you were being sarcastic about Balsillie having money, in which case, screw you, unless the Z10 and Q10 do well, in which case he'll have money again soon but the NHL still won't let him into the league because reasons. HedleyLamarr
That's pretty neat, actually. And if it garners any extra tickets sold, it's better than none.No matter what game you buy tickets to, you run the risk of the game being a stinker. I've driven 7 hours to Tampa (and 7 hours back, all in the same 24-hour span) to see the Thrashers lose 7-1, and I've driven 6 hours to Memphis directly after a full workday with the Thrashers for a UGA football bowl game the next afternoon, a game where the team wasn't too interested in playing the postseason game and lost 10-6 in what's easily the ugliest football game I've ever seen, either in person or on TV.You must've not seen the PSU/Iowa game when I was a freshman at Penn State in 2004.Iowa 6, Penn State 4.No joke.Yeah, but you walked across campus to attend that game.I drove all night from Atlanta to Memphis to watch that joke of a game. The_Admiral
It's interesting to go back in that thread and see how time and idiocy eventually converted rams80 from Peorian Defender of the Sunbelt to being just as annoyed with this sh-tshow as the rest of us. CubsFanBudMan
I did not want to go in that old thread because I expected all the mixed up "you can't see the forest for the pine needles in your eyes" comments but it was so much worse in that thread. I don't remember things getting biblical at all. Glad nobody was struck down by lightning. I had to quit after a few pages. I don't miss that irrational stuff in these Coyotes threads at all, but that was so far off the deep end it just wasn't entertaining to read for me.

Eventually, the puck that he probably couldn't see went into our net on the far side of the arena and everyone just got up and left.

It was the day McGwire was traded to St. Louis. It was the Orioles (who were bad), vs the A's (who were REALLY bad). The game ended 1-0 with Oakland either walking in the game winning run or committing an error to give the win to the O's late in the game. And somehow, baseball is still my favorite sport. The_Admiral
Phoenix, Nashville, and Florida have this weird triumvirate of really obnoxious power play announcements where they make a big deal out of saying "POWER PLAAAAYYY!!!!!" and sometimes the crowd joins in and then kind of politely applauds itself for successfully saying "power play" together. This must be like when p.a. announcers for NBA games would say "TRAAAA-VELIIIIIINNG!!!!! 'Traveling' is when you don't dribble the ball" or whatever it was.
