I know the Rays playing in Orlando in 2007 and 08 were mentioned here but "pictures were hard to find". I come baring gifts from the Rays photo archive._KOV5892.JPG

Forget if I posted this one. But this was from the Los Angeles Lakers visit to San Diego vs the Golden State Warriors in 2015, the two squared off in SD again in 2016. The Lakers typically visit SD once a year and play at the Valley View Casino Center (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena) which was the Rockets, Conquistadors, and Clippers former home (and current home of the San Diego Gulls of the AHL). Last couple of years the Lakers have been consistently playing the Golden State Warriors who ironically also called this arena home for a number of home games during the 1971 season

Give me a break. Progress isn't a bad thing.

People on this board, and life in general, have a sometimes-regressive fetish for the past. It's tiring.

. . . and it's not as if The Vet was a classic stadium that should have been preserved for the sake of our posterity.

Sorry @BringBackTheVet

Image result for expos puerto rico

the Montreal Expos in Puerto Rico (not a fan of teams playing more then a one off or two in other places each season).

small amendment:

in the Expos case, if they had played in Canada near them (say Ottawa or Quebec City) instead of Puerto Rico, i would be fine with that (since its nearer to them then San Juan Puerto Rico).  not a fan of teams playing outside of there area (since Ottawa and Quebec City are closer to them).  would not mine if teams play closer to there home if it is going to be a one off or two (like the Caps playing in Richmond or Baltimore, maybe even Norfolk VA).

so long and thanks for all the fish.

I found this odd game photo of a Nets Hawks game that appears to have been played at the Cap Center and has Dominique in the pre Pacman Hawks uniform when they debuted his rookie year, what was the deal with this, some kind or preseason mini tournament like the Forum had back in the mid 90s or something

Just a preseason game, possibly a doubleheader. As for the Hawks uni, back in the day when teams got new unis they'd wait until the regular season to wear them, using the previous year's unis in preseason.

It's gonna be hilarious when 25,000 of the fans at Stubhub Center are wearing the visiting team's gear.

Seems a real possibility. The Dolts put out a warning to ticket brokers that whomever bought the season tickets had to be the ones sitting in the seats (trying to discourage sales on the secondary market through ironically enough, Stubhub). Which says to me that a large number of the season tickets being bought in the small venue with its limited supply of seats (which is a prime situation for a secondary marketer) are being bought by ticket brokers (the same brokers who used to buy a decent number of their tickets in San Diego). And those folks will sell to the highest bidder, which is much more likely to be an away fan then the non-existent LA Charger fan. So I'd wager you're right about it being filled with away fans, particularly for matchups like the Raiders.

What's worse for the Dolts, they're going to need those brokers, that they're pissing off now, in a few years when they have a 70,000 seat stadium in Inglewood to fill and still no discernible fan base.

Nobody said the Ljnc was a bad stadium or the Vet was a shrine.

From a game-day entertainment value perspective, the Vet was more fun to be a part of the game.

Yes the sight lines are better at the Linc. Yes it's cleaner, prettier, newer and can't forget the solar energy.....but it's still not as fun an atmosphere.

Yes the Vet was a dump and the field was atrocious and blah blah blah. I don't give a :censored:.

They are making a massive mistake going down this route.  The games out here are always fun because of the environment created by the visiting team fan base.

Go go to an Angels' game some night against Tampa Bay. Come back against the Yankees or Red Sox.  It's a different universe - not because of the hole fans, but because of the visiting fans.

There are three or four high school teams in the LA/OC area that people will care about more than the Chargers.

I'm sure the Bills & Browns games will put the LA Chargers on the map for good.
