And it’s probably going to get cancelled because this game is taking place two weeks too late and two hours too late in the day. This time of year is absolutely notorious up here for poor snow/ice conditions because even though it’s still pretty cold, it’s always really sunny and it’s nearly 7,000 feet above sea level.

I knew this whole thing was going to be a disaster for everything beyond the view. Somehow, I actually underestimated it.

I’m mad because the planning on this was just miserable and it would’ve been a bigger shock had this NOT been a total disaster. The location, the time of year, the teams, etc. Who is this even for? They’re just using our town and inconveniencing the locals for a cool view and a tourism ad for a location that already has it’s infrastructure stretched to the max as it is.

I hope people can see now why I had no excitement for this game despite it basically being in my backyard.

Wow, for some reason I confused Lake Tahoe with Lake Placid.

Maybe because having an outdoor hockey game in Nevada is mind numbingly stupid when they struggle to even maintain their own indoor arena.

Totally different parts of the state and absolutely different climates. That’s part of the issue here, too. People are conflating the Vegas area, which is a cesspool, with Tahoe, which is a gemstone and BARELY even in Nevada.

Baseball: 7 inning double headers, man on 2nd to start extra innings.
NHL: Hold my beer.

"The NHL announced contingency plans before the game if there were "unplayable weather conditions." Among them: That the game would be considered "official" once two periods had been played, and the team leading when play is stopped will be declared the winner.

If the score is tied when play is halted after two periods, each team would be awarded one point in the standings and the winner would be determined by a shootout. That shootout would take place immediately after play was stopped at the Lake Tahoe rink; or, if conditions wouldn't permit that, at Ball Arena in Denver on Feb. 22, before the regularly scheduled game between the Golden Knights and Avalanche."

When we have a season starting with no fans, after what happened last year, it was worth the shot. Didn't ruin the day for people there (besides the players ha)

I know it got me watching, and that view was beautiful. Worth the integrity of the game for 1 day (or 1 weekend).

Last year, Carey Price beat the Penguins in dominating fashion during the bubble, which destroyed the Habs tank, cost them a top pick, a shot at Lafrenière, and put the team back in no man's land. In the actual playoffs, Price again was weak and couldn't get a series win when it actually counted, making it 5 years in a row for Price without a playoff series win. Basically, he does everything in reverse, when it should be the other way around.

When Seattle's expansion draft takes place and the Habs can protect only one goaltender, at this point they need to give that immunity to Jake Allen or Cayden Primeau and put Price up for grabs.
