NFL '22 Offseason: Hirings, firings, signings, trades, cuts and cap hits on parade

The Haslems said they didn't need any validation from any of the women in their lives.  Be it victims they know personally, friends and family, even their own daughters, they only acknowledge "how hard" it is, and what a difficult thing this must be.

All they know is that they LOVE Deshaun Watson "the person," and feel like given enough time, everybody will heal or something.  Give it several months, Watson will have done some good PR with photo ops, settled all of his cases, and won a few games as a Brown.   As soon as there's early wins over the Steelers or Ravens, all will be forgiven.  Cleveland sports radio today is already rife with cretins calling in to defend Watson and basically say the 22 women are lying skanks.

To dig your heels into the ground and deny any problems after  22 people tell you that you've done something wrong is some incredible denial. Stuff like this always reminds me of a quote from the fantastic movie Luck Number Slevin.

A good translation for the Browns would be:

We don't care about how the women feel, we just want a star quarterback that can get us a boost in revenue, viewership, and the chance at a title. Did we mention money as well?

It's a really good rule change and is very much the ideal football overtime. I've already seen a lot of, "what does this solve / isn't it still unfair if both teams score touchdowns?" to which the answer is that the second team to possess the ball should always go for 2 if it scores a touchdown, setting up pretty close to a true 50/50 proposition, which should be the whole point. You could even make the case that deferring the toss is preferred (similar to college), which is a neat little strategy wrinkle.

Having different rule sets beyond necessity in the regular season and postseason is silly, but this pretty much solves all the issues of the existing system.

Both teams touch the ball now. Everyone's happy. Hopefully this is the last NFL overtime rules change we ever see. Next step would just be going the bastardized arcade version of OT that they use in college.

The league should have vetoed this trade for Football Reasons. Non-ironic "why can't the NFL be more like the NBA" on this one.

The guaranteed money is ridiculous. Quarterbacks with a proven track record and with actual dignity are now in line to make double what Watson is making next go around
