I've never thought the Cardinals uniforms are bad, they just belong in the year 2003.

*ducks behind counter*

While their pre-2005 uniforms were pretty timeless, they tied back to a very rough time in St. Louis, and even though they're the oldest franchise in the league, I don't think anyone in Phoenix really has a soft spot for the "heritage" of Cardinals football.

A modern get up works since their existence in Arizona really felt like it required a facelift -- afterall, their temporary way of making themselves feel re-born was simply slapping the Arizona flag on the sleeves.

I have no interest in them reverting to the ultra-simplified look of yesteryear, I would even be more intruiged if they adopted a new color scheme, possibly something similar to the Coyotes/D-Backs deeper red and sand aesthetic.

This is what I've always thought. Especially since the Cards have been a historically bad team, Nike could afford to go more bold with them.

Of course they said "ICY," then had to double down by saying "arctic" for a game being played in *checks notes* Nashville, in a video where it's being presented in California, lol

Enough with the lame speak when unveiling uniforms. Just let the look speak for itself. If I see "icy" one more time I am going to lose it.

(and as doug mentioned, they're not aware enough to wear the throwback white pants so that there isn't a random sliver of grey)

To be fair, the Cowboys were practicing in California

Sorry, I'm on an iPad

If they made the helmet stripe have silver down the middle, I'd like it more

I’d agree with that, but as a Cowboys fan I still hate that the Cowboys have a non-throwback alternate at all.

Honestly if they started wearing those as their full time uniforms I wouldn't even be mad lol

The Cardinals are one of the oldest franchises in the league. If they became a white and red version of the Raiders, it would be very fitting.

I don't like the Cowboys helmet for the same reason I don't like the Bears helmet in that they are one of the teams that should not have an alternate helmet unless it's for a throwback. Now they will just not look like the Cowboys and that's just about the dumbest thing you can do. The team hasn't had a white helmet since 1963 and now they will suddenly wear a new white helmet for a random game in Nashville. Not in a home game, not against a rival team, against the Tennesse Titans on a Thursday night.  That's stupid.

Helmet branding is important regardless of how good alternate helmets can be. Some teams seriously need to stay in their lane.  I'm not saying I don't want alternate helmets, it's just that I want them to be for teams that don't have iconic helmets and more importantly I want the helmets to actually be creative and make sense.

The Cardinals helmet shouldn't be messed with but they made it work by bringing something new to the table design wise, it wasn't just some cheap color swap and calling it a day. They actually modified the decal, added red flakes, that's actually interesting and makes it easier to stomach.

All I ask is that teams try harder and stop being stupid.

They are the oldest franchise in the league, by a good margin. The team was established in 1898

I thought that they were, but had it in my head that maybe the Bears were older. Was too lazy to stop typing and look it up.

Either way:

Current helmet

plain red jersey with white numbers

plain white pants

reverse the colors for the road jersey

Bingo bango bongo. Perfect set for the Cardinals.

The red shirts were kind of plain, but I think the road set was just about perfect.

I would go back to the St. Louis set with red and black on the road:

St. Louis Football Cardinals on Twitter: "OTD 1983: The Cardinals and Vikings traveled overseas to play in the Global Cup at Wembley Stadium. It was the first NFL game ever played in

Even in Phoenix, they should look timeless. The 2005 stuff is so tired by now.

Last year the team didn't even use all three blue jersey games. And they didn't even wear blue at home. I don't think they're as concerned as us fans are.

I was reading about this on panthers.com. There was a QandA and someone asked about why they were only wearing blue once.

The response: Apparently, the preseason is counted in the total of 3. And the Panthers absolutely refuse to wear black on the road early in the year (including preseason). So between the game against WAS that was just too darn hot to wear black and the NFL totally unfairly forcing them count their "second primary" helmet as an alternate, there's only one game left to wear blue.

See, they're the victims. They had no say in the matter at all. (Ironic if you can't tell)
