So... can we call these the "MetroConnect" sets, then??

Also worth noting that it's a very dark navy blue, not black.

You know what...in a vaccum, on their own, I like them. Sue me. This actually feels more like a Texas Rangers nrasn than the actual current Texas Rangers brand does....

Congratulations, Nike! You made a Griffin!

I'm glad you said it so I didn't have to.

That Dallas Eagles hat is a straight rip off of the Detroit Tigers old English D.

The Peagle would’ve been a better hat logo.

So I get why some people might not like the execution here -- the "big blue blob" as it were -- but, in my mind, it adheres to the total aesthetic of the uniform in keeping it exceedingly similar. Throwing a Minnie & Paul on there, even in simplified form, wouldn't have matched that objective.

It's all understandable.  Just craving... something.  The Mississippi and Minnesota rivers in homage to the old logo?  An M and StP?  Just the road cap M?  Some pattern (akin to the bricks in the Brewers' Wisconsin patch) that's culturally relevant to the cities/state?  Something to break up the solid shape.

dying on the hill that the Dodgers have the only bad City Connect uniform since the beginning of these.

San Francisco would like a word.

(I also think the choice of grey for Washington is a miss, but everything besides SF and LA seems to either objectively look good or really hit with the locals and catch the culture)

Maybe it's fitting that the old rivals share this link.

Still looks black to me.

That navy feels similar to the Midnight Blue the Astros used on their late 90’s Shooting Star uniforms, which also looks like black

Black would’ve looked better, just not on the pants. They should’ve been cream.

This is proof to me that white/off-white jerseys with darker colored pants can work:

Main reason why this works is because they're wearing contrasting socks (that match the jersey). The Rangers uniform is gonna be worn with baggy pants or cheap looking navy socks

I have not seen a City Connect set yet that didn't make me want to hurl. The number fonts, in particular, have been wretched to the point of embarrassment. (Dodgers CC's excepted.) One of the (many) reasons I don't like the Twins current set is the number font.
MLB block numbers are fine for many reasons. Legibility being one of the most important. I can't wait for this "custom number fonts for everybody" era to be over...but sadly, it will probably outlive me. (Or, at least, what's left of my fandom.)

Well they cant do a Dallas only or Fort Worth only city-connect because they try to pull from both and I don't know how you'd do an Arlington city-connect so they tried to combine references to the baseball history of all three.

Surprised it hasn't been, but it is a little funny that the Rangers CC uses almost the same colors as their in-state rivals' old branding. Though it's not like the Astros own the color, so it's okay.  It's an okay look, I'm disconnected by the pants, but make them the same color and it looks like the D-Backs CC.

I actually really like what the Rangers have going. Everything above the pants is pretty nice, the number font and Peagle logo especially. I'm not crazy on the TX interlock but I like it enough. The killer for me is the dark pants, which don't belong in baseball, at all. Jersey-matching cream pants would elevate this set to one of the best City Connects. Even then it's a really good set and I hope we see Texas get what the Dodgers and Rockies got and a set of light pants to replace the dark ones. Cautiously optimistic for the O's!

They could go full-time with that logo identity

(Save the mis-matching shirt/pants for this sort of one-off alt, though)

The aesthetic I think of when seeing this set:

Hey look, it’s a map of my town.

Always strange that Bonanza, which is seen as this ultimate old  western show, was filmed and based around a ranch on the California/Nevada border which sits at the bottom of a ski resort hill.
