The distaste for the Falcons is largely overblown. The problems lies in which combos and socks they pair with them. What they need to do is stick with the rule that if they wear white pants, they should wear black socks (and vice versa).

Black top with white pants - best overall combo (not including throwbacks). Probably the only combo that’s worn “correctly” for sock contrast.

White top with black pants - switching to this as the primary away look has helped them greatly but they should wear white socks for contrast.

spacer.png

All white - this look could be decent, but their insistence on wearing the wrong socks significantly hurts it. Black socks would help immensely.

spacer.png

All black - the only combo where I think contrasting socks wouldn’t help, as they’d stick out like a sore thumb.

spacer.png

Gradient - definitely needs a rework.

All this to say, these uniforms are a far cry from what came before them. The old set had outstayed its welcome with its mindless panels and piping. The new set by comparison is actually fairly simple. Just a custom font and a stripe down the side.

spacer.png

It would also help tremendously if they had red socks. I’m not saying they should wear them 100% of the time, but the pant stripe is ALWAYS red; generally, to me, it looks good when the pant stripe is the same color as the socks - although, in this case, black socks work well with their white pants, even with the red stripe. To not even have the option of having the pant stripe and socks be the same color speaks to how little The Swoosh was thinking about color blocking when they designed this.

Overall, though, I still like the style of these MUCH better than what came before them.

This has also been posted here, privacy a good year or so ago, from that article speaking of Kyler Murray's disdain for the now-outgoing uniform sets:

Quote

Arizona had uniforms that ranks low among other teams in the league. Quarterback Kyler Murray has been on record offering his dislike for them. “No, I don’t like our uniforms… They’re outdated… I like that state flag look.” If there is one consensus between fans and Murray, it is the Arizona state flag incorporated into a new look.

That right there, combined with the bevy of Arizona Arizonans Cardinals concepts both here and across the interwebs splattering the state flag all over it is EXACTLY why I don't trust the SIC Squad* with the final output of this.

And re: what was said of the Falcons' and Snatit's uniforms being over-hated on: to me, if one has to reduce their argument to "if they would just wear such-and-such combinations" (in this case, pants) to justify it, it undermines the entire argument...and also means the uniform sets themselves are just bad. (And this is coming from someone who uses that same argument to *try to* accept the Jaguars' current milquetoast platter of a uniform set.)

Last comment on this because I get triggered when I see the ATL uniforms:  find me someone on the planet who thinks Atlanta's current set is better than this, or a slightly modernized version of this:

And again, if you put that Black/White/Red logo on this helmet below, with a helmet stripe that matches the pant stripe, and Grey pants, it's a tremendous uniform:

This is exactly how I feel about the Titans.

Their insistence on wearing the Navy pants with home, away, and with the Light Blue jersey ruin what is otherwise a much better design than the Jets, Commanders, Falcons.  They should wear White pants home & away, and only wear the Light Blue pants for Color Rush games wearing the Light Blue jersey (which also looks best with White pants) and an occasional Away game with the White jersey.

I actually think the Titans should sub in the Columbia blue pants for the navy ones in their primary home look. And they should wear the white ones with the Columbia jersey.

Tennessee actually doesn’t have a Columbia blue color Rush with this set. Since its adoption in 2018, they have never once worn Columbia blue socks, which leads me to believe this set simply doesn’t have them.

I don't think I've ever seen a collective group of folks THIS impatient for a uniform unveiling. This is a whole new level of impatience.

WHY HAVEN'T THERE BEEN ANY LEAKS! IT MUST NOT REALLY BE HAPPENING SINCE WE HAVEN'T SEEN IT BEFORE WE WERE TOLD WE'D SEE IT!

Anyway, I think the new uniforms will be great.

The black helmet is fine, especially with a dark metallic helmet already in the division.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

The Titans uniforms suck. The combos suck. The lack of light blue socks sucks. The pants “stripe” sucks. It’s all just so over though and undercooked. The navy helmet makes another outline on the logo necessary and it makes the logo at least look too small. The pit stains look like they said “oh :censored: we need more light blue” so they stuck it in under there. The dark numbers on the light blue jersey suck. I honestly can’t think of a single thing I like except for maybe the general shape of the yoke.

The Falcons are kind of in the same boat, but I do like some of what’s going on there. The number font doesn’t really bother me, neither does the side shadow. I really appreciate the simplicity of the white and black jerseys. The only parts I really don’t like are the silver face mask, helmet finish and the giant ATL on the jerseys, and of course the red gradient jersey. Like others have said, when the falcons wear the right combos with contrasting socks, it’s really not half bad. They just need some tweaks IMO. The Titans need to be blown up.

Nah, this is pretty par for the course. Back when the Vikings and Jaguars released their uniforms people were going full CSI on images that were about this quality (recreation for dramatic effect).

What’s with your fixation regarding the Falcons wearing that Colorado helmet? You’ve posted about it twice in the last hour. For a team that has worn black helmets for the last 30+ years and red for the 25 or so before that, I don’t see why introducing anthracite would be a good idea.

The Titans and Commanders uniforms are irredeemably horrible, whatever the combinations. You can pick out the best combo of each and still be left with a bad uniform.

And as for the Falcons and Rams, if you have to cherry pick just certain ways to make the uniform palatable, the design has failed.

How has the Cards look not leaked? The team can't seem to do anything right, yet somehow have prevented this from leaking

Frankly, it would strike me as being definitively Arizona Cardinals-like for the leadership of this franchise to be so focused on preventing a “leak” that they wound up blissfully unaware of the fact that the new uniforms they’d produced looked like “s**t”.

Disagree 100%.  Combinations matter.  One can be perfect, and changing out to another color pant, helmet, sock, etc. can completely throw off the balance of a look and how it all works together.

Saints are a great example.  They look great & timeless in Gold/Black/Gold/Black.  They look great in Gold/White/Gold/Black.  They even look good in Gold/White/White/Black.

But they look like dog:censored: in Gold/Black/Black/Black and Gold/White/Black/Black.  And they look like major dog:censored: in those solid White pants they wear with their Black jerseys last year.

Lastly, one bad helmet can ruin one of the best looks in all of football:

Never understood the hate the Titans uniforms get, same with the Panthers. Sure they can be improved but they aren't as bad as some make them out to be.

Agree completely. The Titans original uniforms were some of my least favorite in the NFL. They literally looked like a low budget arena football team that ordered uniforms from a catalog. The helmet, jersey and pants made no sense together. Traditional generic pants, weird spiked helmet stripes like the Ravens, somewhat modern jersey and an atrocious number font.

While the current Titans set has its flaws, I still consider it a massive upgrade.

No, the Titans have some of the worst uniforms of any team at any level. Every single thing about them from the weird sword shoulders, to the underarm coloration, to the numbers (which have already been tweaked once because they were such illegible garbage) to the navy helmets with the awful fencing sword stripe is absolutely god awful. Only set I’ve ever disliked more was the Bucs Alarm Clock unis, and they had the good sense to toss those in the bonfire as soon as they possibly could.

Because I like it for multiple reasons and feel it would've been a better decision than the helmet & color combo they went with.

There are a ton more teams in the league wearing Black/Black or Navy/Navy helmet/facemask combos then there are teams that wear Silver or White helmets with Dark facemasks.  Carolina would be the only other one, off the top of my head.  And the Falcons' best look of all-time - in my opinion - were the Deion-era uniforms with Silver pants.

I can explain it. Cartoonish, amateur giant swords on the shoulders, barely legible numbers, a pointless little pit stain of color that adds literally nothing to the design, a pointless square of grey on the pants that adds literally nothing to the design and half the time doesn't include the team's two main colors, monochrome hell, and to top it all off a nice splotch of red not used anywhere else to tell everyone exactly who to thank for jerking off in our cornflakes.
