Looks like it's gonna be Utah Yeti

As if this was ever a surprise to anyone who paid even half-a-second of attention to this whole thing. I maintained from jump that it was that or bust. Now, here we are.

Let [even more] logo/uniform concepts commence!

If it's the Utah Yeti, then let's go with mountain blue as the dark base. The pants can be black but the jerseys, socks and, yes, even the helmets should be mountain blue.

Those look cool, but the connection is tenuous. A lot of the letters have 2000s-NFL spikes on them (subtle, but they're there) and little sophisticated cuts and angles in places you wouldn't necessarily insist on them (the C, E, F, G, S, T, Z), and the whole thing is still tied by its color scheme to the dark, desaturated 2006 set, which was very much of its time. The font the Jets use-- Featured Item, I think it's called--is closer to the lettering in the posters than the Ducks' overdesigned font.

This all makes me wish the Los Angeles Rams had stuck with the Futura Display wordmark. Now that's a font from some 1940s orange posters and stuff.

Those citrus posters scream California State Fair (which is at Cal Expo in Sacramento) just as loudly as they do Orange County Citrus Farmers. Seems like a stretch to me.

I could get used to this.

At first I felt like the triangle was a bit too small, but the more I see this logo the more it feels right. Also, kind of funny how we've gone from orange being a barely visible trim to gradually becoming the focal point of their identity.

My biggest problem with this is the orange pants. If they were black, it's a top-10 all-time rebrand. As it stands, especially with no bottom stripe on the pants (a la Columbus), the top of the socks and the bottom of the pants blend together, giving them almost a Big Bird effect.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

This is very minor nitpick but I really wish the white stroke around the gold triangle was a little bit thinner...  I don't like how it takes away from the real estate of this distinctive element.  If it was about half the size, that would be ideal.

Why does the triangle exist at all?

That's actually pretty cool and clever.  I didn't like the new font at first but this connection has made me warm to it a bit.

It certainly looks sharper on the home version where the orange and gold don't touch.  Maybe if they reversed the black and gold on the road...

I think the bronze looks awful paired with orange. I wish they went with the bottom logo with a silver triangle (the logo from the plum Mighty Ducks jersey) instead of the bronze/gold one.

Because triangles are a traditional part of hockey crests. See penguins

The Pens have a golden triangle in their logo because downtown Pittsburgh is colloquially referred to as the Golden Triangle. The Allegheny and Manongahela shape it that way.  I don't think Anaheim has a triangle for any particular reason.

Sorry, Ducks fans, but the all orange and the orange heavy road for me are one of the ugliest sports uniforms in a very long time. Like Giant V Canucks bad. This is old school ugly like we haven't seen since the 70's/80's. And the entire problem for both home and road would be solved with black pants. The logo and home sweater are great. Even keeping the orange helmet is fine and would set them apart from the Flyers, but the orange pants is 3 steps too far. I'm picturing a full 20 man team full of Ducks skating out for warmups and like when the Kings wore all-yellow and it looked goofy - It's just a silly amount of orange.

"They're orange because ORANGE County" Understood. It still looks dumb. It's like the LA Rams wearing bone colored road uniforms because that's the color of rams horns - Clever, but looked really stupid, which is more important.

I'm not as anti-all-orange as you are, but this image certainly makes it look awful.  Looks like bright-orange Cooperalls - or orange leggings tucked into fancy ladies boots.

I'm of the mindset that all mono-hockey uniforms are awful and that's one of many reasons why they should be road unis rather than home.  I think these deserve a chance, but I'd bet they're wearing black pants (breaking my "helmet matches the pants" rule) before the all-star game.

It's just a design element to give the overall logo some shape and definition when against various backgrounds.  Even the Penguins, who have the built-in "golden triangle" explanation, likely added theirs for the same reason.  While social media wasn't a thing, it still makes the logo look better on things like hockey cards, TV graphics, and to the average person, makes it look distinct and intentional and not just a drawing of a skating penguin.

No surprise the Sharks did the same thing.  A triangle is simply more dynamic (for lack of better word) than a square, and (at the time) less common than a roundel.
