Playoff question …

Is the G5 champion slotted anywhere in the playoffs or are they automatically given the 12 spot?  I’ve seen mixed messages and not sure if that’s been stated officially or not.

I heard that when this was first announced, they gave the G5 champion the #12 spot to placate them and prevent a lawsuit.

It's just an AQ. Most of the time, it's going to be 12 but if it's a year like where Cinci was #4, they'll most likely be higher than 12.

Just something I noticed.

For around the last 30 years, I have kept a running list of  Active National Champion Head Coaches in college football.  Updated it every year in the offseason based upon change in location, retirement, firings, moving to the pros, etc.

I can remember when there were 7-8 active college coaches who had won national championships.

This year, with Harbaugh going to the pros IMMEDIATELY after winning one, Saban retiring, and Jimbo Fisher being fired, we are down to only 3.

THREE!

  1. Dabo Swinney, Clemson (2016, 2018)
  2. Mack Brown, UNC (Texas, 2005)
  3. Kirby Smart, Georgia (2021, 2022)

Not that it isn’t all supremely gross already, but College sports are about to hit some really disgusting times

How about not playing him in the first four games of the season instead of saying, "Hey, instead of sitting out our potential Heisman Trophy caliber running back for a third of the season, let's run him ragged against an FCS team".

Really shows the massive lack of character Gundy has.

Gundy's always been this tone deaf, so I'm not really surprised. The NCAA or the Big XII could still rule on this, though.  It'd be smart of one of them to do this, especially since we've had schools dealing with football players getting killed drag racing while drunk just over a year ago.

We no longer have to wonder if the Big Ten will bring back their famous maps commercial!

Just pointing out that I noticed they included the Liberty Bell (which was also in the older commercial). Seems like a reach IMO for them to claim that Rutgers stretches that far into the Philadelphia market.

To be fair New Jersey only has 2 media markets and it would be wise to take advantage of not only being in the #1 market (NYC) but staking their claim in the #1 and #4 (Philly) media markets

Wow, unranked Georgia Tech beat ranked Florida State!

Florida State was overrated at 10. Jordan Travis made them look so much better than they actually were the last two years and going from him to DJ U is a massive downgrade.
