New BYU Basketball Unis

Not only is my alma mater BYU trying to eradicate tan/gold from their sports uniforms' color scheme, but they also seem intent to live in the past. First the football team, and now the basketball team too! I like tradition, but I think there are ways to acknowledge tradition while still maintaining a modern look (see, e.g., the 49ers). I think the tan/gold looks good as a trim/highlight color. Anyway, I'll shut up now and be content that the trend here is de-Nikefication:

Odd that in '04, Nike attained near-perfection with BYU. Then in '05, the school decided to scrap it all and go generic.

And in the opposing corner, wearing diamondplate, we have Oregon...

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

BYU's current football jerseys are near perfect. Could not get better, in my opinion.

The basketball jerseys also look great, I just don't like the Y patch that interrupts the collar stripes.

i like the simpler look. the 2004 byu stuff was god awful, they look like they're wearing space suits or something.

Simpler works better for a school like BYU. As much as the gold was a nice touch, they made simple blue and white classy and attractive.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

2 points:

1. The basketball unis are good, it is a shame there's no gold, but I like the consistency with the football team.

2. Outside of the basketball team, BYU needs to be wearing these football unis again:

Also, if they're going old school, why navy blue instead of royal blue? Doesn't make sense to me.

I agree with the majority opinion here -- it looks good, nice, clean, and respectable. I'm also really enjoying the move toward "classic" designs -- Syracuse, the Bills alt, this, the Sonics last year, etc.

I accually think they are doing just that very well. BYU has had some of the busiest sports unis (Especially football) in the past few years, i like the transition to the more simple look

Before I let this thread slide into oblivion, I just wanted to say that I agree with most of the responses here to some extent--the traditional look is pretty good. I was just hoping for something with a little bit of tan, so that it would at least match BYU's overall athletic identity.

For example, maybe something like this (modified vs. current) and an equivalent set for the basketball team (which you'll have to imagine):
