I'm seriously wondering if the new jerseys will simply be last year's materials in the new Edge cut. Which means, outside of close-up shots, the Lightning looked like they were wearing solid black jerseys with no trim or striping whatsoever. Horrible.Also horrible: the inexplicable Oilers striping. I mean, good God almighty. You can't truly appreciate the hideousness of some of these designs until you see them in live action.(Free preview week on NHL Center Ice = Best Week Ever.) You can't see the orange piping at all and the orange on the underside of the sleeves is only seen in flashes which makes the jerseys appear as one big dark blue jersey. BadSeed84 Posted October 5, 2007 Share Posted October 5, 2007 I was watching the flyers/flames gameFlames look horrible, see the black piping I dont see much on tv in action, so it looks like the big black sides just randomly stop.Also Black numbers outlines in yellow on red, isnt easy to read.Flyers look good, not great like the old uniforms, but I would say the white is the better jersey. Too much clutter.this proves to me that these among most were designed by amateurs. Professional designers know that two dark colors side by side create a bleeding effect. Same issue with the Avalanche, the blue and the maroon are put side by side creating a bleeding effect which kills the jersey. Anyone that is a professional should know to either a contrasting color or use trim to offset the color. Tampa's old design while light years ahead of this(which is saying something considering what they had wasn't much too speak of), had somewhat the same issue the blue and black bled into each other creating a black and white jersey with a hint of blue. I generally don't like piping but in the case of Tampa, silver piping would go along way in breaking up the blue and the black.
