hawk36
Thin the pants stripes (it's 2009, not 1989), and you have what is pretty much a perfect uniform.WRONG!!!!Those 80s uniforms aren't any good because they neglected to use gold trim in the jerseys. If they make any changes, they must keep some black trim and make sure there is red, black and gold in all jerseys, pants and basically keep the same helmet.I too would like to see the 80s unis come back. Much better IMO. Lack of gold in jersey doesn't bother me. If anything I'd look at the sleeve stripe pattern and maybe make it 2 stripes instead of three so as to match the helmet and pant. DG_ThenNowForever
Man, some of you people are nuts. Seriously, you prefer this:to this?:Or this:to this?:I suppose I'm biased. I actually think that the 49ers are, bar none, the best looking team in all of the NFL. I think all of the elements of the uniform are balanced well, they updated their set without compromising the look and themes of the original, and they still look good today.Maybe everyone preferring the old look is a function of growing up with that uniform. I get that -- we all get to ages where everything new is garbage. But I look at it like this. If the 49ers had something completely different, and were to introduce either look today, which would you prefer seeing? I can't imagine anyone would recommend the old look for a professional sports franchise. (But then again, the Giants kind of did just that, didn't they?) 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

rob66
You guys are crazy if you think there is something wrong with the current niners' uniforms. If anything lose the drop shadow and it will look a bit better, its not dated and those 80's era ones suck.

powersurge
Thats how I feel about them going back to the awful Vegas Gold. The current more yellowish gold MUST stay.Comparing the current colors to the older (I picked the 1989 colors since they show the difference between the helmet and pant colors):I've always found that the Pantone colors for metallic colors are always really misleading. Obviously its impossible to show the metallic quality of a color without showing the real life thing, but its still pretty misleading. I've always thought their current gold is much yellower than the old Vegas gold.

I've always thought their current gold is much yellower than the old Vegas gold.It depends as to how you look at them. The RGB values I use represent the true metallic color if you look at them under certain lighting conditions. They look lighter if you have a direct light source on them that is reflecting off of the color...the metallic flake in the ink reflects light. That being said, I'm talking about the solid/spot colors. Textiles/fabrics are a completely different thing. Here is a comparison of the current 49ers PANTONE Textile colors vs. the Textiles used in the throwback uniforms:
FiddySicks
If the Niners just simplified the number font and lightened up the red a bit they would be perfect. My biggest problem with the Niners is that the darker red makes the set a bit too bland. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) BigMac12
I never understood why they added black to the colorset. In my opinion it adds nothing, looks terrible as a drop shadow, and they already were using white as an accent color in a perfectly fine way in their classic '80s uniforms.I hope they keep the gold pants though - the white '90s throwback pants were awful. They never made much sense with the gold helmets. One of the problem I have with the '80s set is that there not enough dark color. Without black, the colors blend in. Love the gray facemask. This is the WORST TREND in the NFL today!!!!!!!!! How many hockey goalies do you see with tan pads? How many baseball players do you see with just a navy or red batting helmet? This is a time where you can color coordinate your whole uni. Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This pet peeve of mine is bigger than the leotard socks/pants.
