In like 10 years it'll probably be normal. A few days before the end of the tournament the reports were that the Lakers weren't planning on hanging a banner if they won, since they don't even hang banners for conference championships. Silver obviously wanted them to acknowledge it, and I guess they compromised by having one banner that they can add more years to if they end up winning it again.
