Tampa Bay Buccaneers to wear orange throwbacks in 2009

Socks notwithstanding (or those biker shorts Gaines Adams is sporting)...I am whole again.

The socks are SPECTACULAR!!

And I appreciate the attempt to get the numbers and sleeve stripes to co-exist below the shoulder. So many teams do throwbacks with the numbers up on the shoulder (Vikings!) and call it accurate.

Oh don't get me wrong--I ain't say they was UGLY...it's just that without having ever seen them before (other than that 1976 team pic posted above), they just looked out of place to me. Oh...and believe you me, I am LOVING the shoulder number treatment, plus it looks as if they actally worked to make the "sleeve" stripes appear visible no matter the armhole cuts.

(Them biker shorts is still all the way wrong, though.)

Just bought it. I now know the true definition of "Cream"Sicle.

Nice one, I'm considering that or an Alstott one from the Bucs shop online.

Yeah it was either Alstott, or Lynch, or Ward, or Barber, or Ruud!!! AHHH!!! It was a tough decision, but I don't currently own a Barber jersey.

I know what you mean, I've been eye ballin em for the last hour or so. I have to wait till I get paid next week to pick one up. I've decided on Lynch, but I have a week so I'll probably change my mind a dozen times. haha!

Anyone know if they will be making these jerseys available in authentics too? I REALLY want an authentic - one of my favorite jerseys from when I was a kid.

Ding-ding-ding.

And personally, I may find myself unable to resist the temptation of an Alstott jersey.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

They also announced to honor the past bucs teams, that they will lose on theat date the wear the unis.

It would be nice they would make an orange alt jersey from their current scheme

You know, I thought that for quite awhile, but then I started making concepts for Bucs alts using the current shade of orange in the number trim. Honestly, it's just not different enough from the bright shade of red they have. In a sense it'd give the same effect the Patriots silver jersey did, over worn and dingy like the current jersey was washed too many times.

Personally, I'm all for them using the throwbacks twice a year like San Diego and Buffalo used to.

Hoping one of you guys will post an outside, daylight shot of one of these replica throwback jerseys on this board when someone buys one. Wondering if the color of orange is the pale yellow-orange as the players displayed. I know that sometimes the replica jerseys don't quite match the colors of the on-the-field stuff. I have an orange sand knit mesh jersey I purchased some years ago, wondering if these throwback versions are actually lighter orange than the one I have....

Seem's the authentic's are already out of stock.

Not that it matters much; outside of the actual jersey weight (and not by much, either), the "replicas" and "authentics" aren't all that different in this case, being that the Buccaneers used screenprinted numbers back in those days, as well.

ADD'L NOTE #1: I told myself I wasn't going to do it, but the Lynch jersey I had back in the day is done for, so I went on and copped a new old one.

ADD'L NOTE #2: So, 8 NOV vs Green Bay, eh? Well...I...will...be...there! (And oddly enough, it'll only be the second NFL game I've seen in person--that is, unless I decide to check out a game at either RFK or M&T Bank in the interim...)

Thats what I was thinking, so for an authentic someone would just be dishing out an extra 100$ for the weight basically.

Edit: I was just looking at them again and it seems that on the authentic's the shoulders and sleeves and even collar look to be mesh, where on the replicas they appear to be the dazzle material. The description for the authentic's says "Dazzle shoulders & Sleeves", but the picture doesn't match.

Either that and/or the customization piece.

I have a Williams from that era, and the screenprint on mine (made by M&N, by the way) isn't all that different from the screenprint on most replicas--it's just a heavier application of the screenprint (so that no holes are visible). The jersey itself is a bit heavier, but, again, not by much.

So yeah...save the $100 and stick with a replica. Besides, the only people out in public who might notice the difference are those of us up in here. ;)
