TC
So I got this idea after someone on the Pet Peeves thread said they hate when they are watching a game with a fan of the opposing team and your team is getting "boat-raced". What I want you guys to do is list terms less-known to the sports world. If this goes as planned, we will have a nice sized list of terms. I'll start. Kids at my school call getting blown-out, crushed, etc. well they call it getting raped. I personally don't say this because it's really stupid, but it's one example of something to post. I personally don't say this because it's really stupid, but it's one example of something to post.Perhaps it's taken on a different meaning now days, but the term "boat race" doesn't exactly mean that youre getting blown out, but more like the eventual winner goes wire-to-wire when doing so -- as most boat races go, once one boat takes the lead, it's pretty much over and they go on to win. JamieRose
At my old high school, our football team usually got "Beasted" upon. But it was pretty "Beastly" when they were winless, and our arch rivals were undefeated, and we beat them in the last game of the season.. Of course I wasn't at that game because I thought "Psh, we'll get beasted!"
mohelmets
Well, in recent years, particularly this season, "win" is a not so well known sports term in Detroit...

TC
I say we start a new term, whenever something sucks, call it "lion". Example: The Lions are lion.

ShinyHubCaps
When someone gets blown out, I call it getting "flamboasted."I also use the word "crushify" to denote something powerful, usually used to describe a 400-foot home run, but it could have other applications. Not too clever, but it works for me. TFoA
Mollywocked: To get absolutely defeated, dragged, slammed, beaten, blown out, etc.I figured I'd put this on here since it feels like the only people I've seen use it are people I encounter in real life and myself on the internet. Hell, 7 of the 17 google results for "mollywocked" basically go to me using it in a sentence in the Falcons, Hawks, Braves, or Thrashers message boards. Drew22
"dump-trucked" I always say it when someone gets a huge hit put on him. Like Peyton Manning just got dump-trucked by Troy Polamalu.

Like Peyton Manning just got dump-trucked by Troy Polamalu.I was gonna say that I've heard Flame use that once or twice here before, and that I absolutely love it. Another one i've heard that's similar is "bitched". And I don't mean like you missed a tackle and looked bad doing it, I mean like straight up Herschal Walker running over Bill Bates style bad. And DAMN did Bates get absolutely bitched on that one.

scottysprings
I don't really know how obscure these are but these are my two favorite sports buzzwords:dirty (adj)- 1. Very talented or skilled. "Man, Evan Longoria is dirty!" 2. Intense or impressive, often used to describe a maneuver or move. "Man did you see Knowshown Moreno hurdle that guy? That was friggen' dirty!"rippin' (v)- 1. The act of being "hot" or "on a roll". "Holy cow, Sam Bradford has been rippin' the past couple of weeks!" 2. The act of executing (a) powerful or impressive shot(s), hit(s), etc. "That kid hit three upper 90 shots today, he's straight up rippin'."
