Encouraging: Hamels notched his first win of 2009 and didn't injure himself in the process. Perhaps he has finally turned the corner.

Discouraging: Brad Lidge, just getting work in, gave up a 3-run homer in the 9th. 5 HRs allowed in 2009, after he only allowed 2 all of 2008.

Phillies are in first and aren't even firing on all cylinders, especially pitching-wise.

I suppose this could be considered newsworthy....

A*Rod just went yard in his first at-bat since coming clean about HGH.

:censored:

I forgot to get him back in my fantasy line-up... :(

Had him sitting on my fantasy DL as well.

And yeah, not to mention he went deep on the first pitch he saw. CC hurled a complete game shutout. The Yanks are lookin' up.

Went to the Jays game today (with CC97 & Neon Matrix might I add)... and it was incredible.

Halladay outduels Burnett. I've never seen a non-opening night crowd that electric since 1993. They were ripping into Burnett, A-Rod and Melky Cabrera (who was taunting the crowd) all night.

And oh yeah, it's May 12th and the Toronto Blue Jays own the best record in the MLB. Wow.

Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and retract my previous statement.

And allow me to bring Ryan Zimmerman's hit streak into the conversation. Now at 30 games and counting...

I think you've jinxed him.... :P

I know it's too late, but:

Rule #20-A in the Hitter's Club: Don't talk about the streak.

Edit: Thanks a lot Curty :P

So would it really be so far out of the realm of possibility for the Nats to ship Zimmerman out?

Oh I know he's their franchise player, and he just signed a HUGE deal, but really, Washington needs to build up as much as they can. With Zimmerman absolutely at peak value (So far), why not ship him out?

But you better be DAMN sure your gonna get your worth back, and unfortunately I don't think Washington's front office has the smarts to.

Are there any teams with a huge need at third and lots of prospects? If there was, I'd expect Zimmerman to be out rather soon. Then again, we're talking about the team who kept Soriano for an entire year without trying to get anything for him, so maybe prospects are optional.

I could see a team like San Francisco making a deal if they're still in contention come the deadline.

What they should really do is hire Don Zimmer as manager and get rid of everyone else without the letters "Zimmer" in their name, and they would probably be a better team. Oh, and keep Dukes too.

The Braves went 6-2 on a road trip that includes the Phillies, Marlins, and Mets.

The Braves are still behind all 3 of those teams. :( They are beginning to get hot, though.

I really hope the Braves deal for a big bat at the trade deadline (if their pitching can keep them in it) The offense is scoring enough right now but there is a need for someone that pitchers do not want to see at the plate. Kinda like Chipper last year. They need speed too! I can't stand the fact that the Braves just do not steal bases...at all!

Maybe if Schafer would ever get on base...
