Yea, Bernie Williams can't run like he used to. Got thrown out at home plate.

Interesting fact I didn't know. Randall "not a fan of sausages" Simon is on the Netherlands. They are up 1-0 in the 4th on Puerto Rico.

Meanwhile Italy up 3-0 on Canada in the 3rd. That game is not on TV here in the states.

I believe it's on MLB Network. EDIT: Guess not.

its on espn deportes.

I'm not sure which is our greatest win in Baseball.... 99 Intercontinental Cup v Cuba, 04 Olympics v Japan or yesterdays belting of the Mexicans.

We only have 4 majors listed players compared to Mexico's... what.... 15 or something. Not a bad effort.

Pudge Rodriguez better go back to using 'roids. A high schooler just struck him out on 3 pitches with runners on first and third. Still 1-0 Netherlands through 6.

I will say this about the Netherlands they can pitch and field so far in this tournament.

Wow what a bottom of the 7th inning in San Juan. The 19 year old Netherlands pitcher stayed in the game after striking out Pudge to end the 6th. With 1 out and 1 on Cora is hit by a pitch to make it 1st and 2nd. The Next batter grounds one up the middle that is a sure DP ball but it deflects off the pitcher and everybody is safe. Now it's bases loaded with 1 out. The pitcher then throws a wild pitch that the runner on third could have easily scored on but he never ran home. Then then the PR batter popped out. Then the pitcher got Beltran to ground to first to get out of it.

Still 1-0 Netherlands top of the 8th.

The Reds have a good prospect in this kid Sulbaran.

That's probably going to be it for the Netherlands. After walking the bases loaded Molina singles to make it 2-1 PR. Still in the 8th 1 out (whcih was gift wraped by Pudge trying to bunt).

EDIT: Puerto Rico gets another run. 3-1 going into the top of the 9th.

So did Italy really just beat Canada? Wow. This Classic is turning out to be, well, classic.

I kinda saw it coming. Italy played Venezuela tough, and Canada probably had a let down after their tough loss to the U.S. Poor Canada.

How about the nontraditionals though? Italy, Australia, and the Netherlands have made some pretty big strides since the last tournament. I'm impressed as hell.

South Africa is playing Mexico tough right now as well down by 1.

It's good for these bottom seeded team to pull off a few upsets and play the top teams tough. It helps build the tournament. If the top teams just dominated through them it would cast doubt on the future of the tournament as there wouldn't be much to watch.

-turns it to MLB Network-

Wow. Now that's a shock. Hopefully it stays close to the end.

I just saw the Italy-Canada highlight on Baseball Tonight and the thing I'm taking away from it is how freaking awesome those team Italy caps are. If I had any Italian blood whatsoever I'd snag one.

:(

Agreed. WTF happened? Where were all the fans? I was at the game and the crowd was small. It looked like a Wednesday night Jays game.

I don't think I'll ever say this again, but I think I have seen the best and worst live baseball games in my entire life, in the same weekend.

6:30 start against a perceived weak opponent. Such a boring game...not atmosphere whatsoever. It should be like that for the next 2 games as well.

		  R H E
Italy 6 10 0
Canada 2 7 1
*Canada is Eliminated

			 R H E
Netherlands 1 5 1
Puerto Rico 3 8 0
*Puerto Rico Advances
