2009 NFL Off-Season Thread

Carl Peterson was fired. Herman Edwards was fired. Gunther Cunningham signed with Detroit. Pioli was hired. Cutler's out of this division. Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels wants my team's quarterback. This is truly the best offseason ever.

I said it when it went down last December, and I'll say it again now: The Broncos should have NEVER fired Mike Shanahan. This is going to be Denver's worst season in ages, probably going back to the pre-Elway days.

And to all the discontent, blood-thirsty Denver fans who are more than happy to see Shanahan and Cutler to the door (trust me, there are a good number of them out there), I hope you enjoy 4-12! ;)

What a disaster in Denver. The team AND Cutler behaving badly. I understand his point of view but the NFL is business and he has to accept that. As for the Broncos...wow. They're in danger of being cellar-dwellers with all this drama plus no QB plus a new coaching staff. Could get ugly.

If I'm Detroit and Denver would take the #1 pick for Cutler, why not? He's a proven commodity. They could draft Stafford or Sanchez only to discover the next Ryan Leaf. Why take the risk? An experienced QB in Cutler and you save all that money you would have paid the #1 guy regardless of what position they draft, praying he's not a bust? Isn't that a no-brainer?

I dont see Cutler going to an AFC team...I could see another AFC team in a 3 way deal (ie. Cleveland),but Cutler will be in the NFC...prolly Tampa with an outside shot at Detroit or Chicago

If I was the Lions I wouldnt move that #1 for him...move the 20 and another pick or two and take one of those O linemen,to help keep Cutler upright :)

please please any teamโ€”i mean ANY teamโ€”but the Jets. i really don't want the Bills to have to face him twice a year.

I think Detroit would be very smart to make a move on him. But one of the under-the-radar teams that could make a move on him is the Panthers. After the Delhomme Disaster in the playoffs last year, they really could use a new QB of the future. Could you imagine Cutler heaving up bombs to Steve Smith? It could pair the best arm in the league with the one of the fastest players in the league. That would be deadly (to NFC teams and to teams playing me in the keeper league I own Cutler. ^_^ )

and oh yeah, they have an All-Pro pass rusher that's dying to be traded.

That is...if Snidey-boy over in D.C. don't make a run at him first.

Yeah...quiet is as (was) kept, the Redskins have been named as a possible trade destination for JC6 here. And you know what...that really don't surprise me, seeing as to how Snidey loves handing out these exhorbitant contracts to big-name free agents--or in this case, disgruntled players with a high profile.

Usually, when Snyder targets a player he wants, he ends up getting him. Just saying...

Who do you blame for the Cutler broncos breakup?

Cutler 50%

The Broncos 50%

Total votes: 153,585

Seems as if there's quite the split on opinions of whos to blame. I say we just blame them both.

according to chicagobears.com...."it was Cutler and a pick for a player and a package of picks"...that could be intresting for us Packer fans lol...wonder if they sent Orton to Denver?

Cutler and a draft pick for Orton and a draft pick.

ESPN is saying Orton and the Bears' 2009 and 2010 1st rounders for what ever Denver shipped over.

Glad that saga is over and I think Denver made out like bandits in that deal.

He couldn't have gone to a team with more similar jerseys. Same colors (roughly) and even a similar number font.

I doubt you'll find that kind of commentary on any other message board!

How about those Kevin Butler throwbacks that just need one letter replaced, assuming Jay keeps 6?
