So smug

I personally hope the NHL comes down on him hard, because by the sounds of early rumblings the Blackhawks won't I don't care if your a star player you should act respectful wherever you are. I hope Pat Kane gets the punishment of a life time.

now, dont get me wrong, i agree with you that the nhl should punish him, but c'mon, its not like the guy killed dogs for sport or shot up a strip club. he was a cheap mofo who hit a cabbie, nothing more, nothing less, yeah its a :censored:ed up thing to do, but believe me, there are worst things that a pro athlete can do, i know, i watch the NFL.

I just believe that Athletes should act according to normality, there role models to kids and looked up to be many and I think Pat Kane is probably the last person you'd expect to pull a stunt like that but still it's a very douchie thing to do no matter who you are and I think he should suffer maybe not through jail time but at least a good suspension and fine should be in order.

honestly, knowing how small of a town and how close knit of a town Buffalo is, im surprised this got out. i think he should be fined, but prolly nothing more. maybe a 5 game suspension but honestly what does that do? i dont think that adds anything but given Colin Campbells disciplinary record, anything can happen.

True I mean if it was an on ice incident it probably easier to say what kind of suspension would be in order but since it's off ice the best thing the NHL can do is wait for all the details to roll in and then make a decision.

NEW.ERA.PANDA is just upset because the Blackhawks eliminated the Flames from the playoffs so Kane should get a 15 game suspension then he and the other classy Flames fans can throw change at him to mock him because he's a cheap athlete trying to get 20 cents from a cab driver he should have just let him have it for a tip he's a millionaire he can afford it.

Seriously, Panda: Enough of the run-on sentences. Your posts are starting to resemble Tnak's posts of the past, when he'd string multiple thoughts into one sentence. Think out each thought and seperate them into seperate sentences.

I'm looking forward to seeing the mugshot!

I hope this kid pays for what he did.

No, he didn't pay. That's the problem.

Exactly. He still owes that 20 cents... plus the $13.80 he was supposed to pay... and the $100ish he supposedly took from the driver... I wonder if he'll be able to afford all that on his miniscule entry level salary!!

Like with every other famous athlete who had run-ins with the law, he'll pay his way out of jail, he'll take a suspension, and the incident will fade away if he produces enough points on the ice.

But yeah, it's definitely a dumb thing to do. That's what too much beer can do to a person.

Typical. I choose the hawks as my second favorite team and Kane as my favorite non-penguin, even get a (blank) jersey and a Kane T-shirt, and both the team and Kane go and do this stuff.

That's what happens when you choose a team. You don't choose a team, they choose you. The Blackhawks chose me, so I was willing to ride out the bad days before Rocky took over, and I'm willing to ride this out.

If I chose them, I could just drop them. But I didn't, so I can't.

Honestly, I don't understand this choosing of teams. You watch games and they choose you one way or another.

WIN.

Wirtz was the first thing that popped into my head when I heard about this story.

A rap artist is sued by the Carolina Hurricanes over a song promoting the team:

The Carolina Hurricanes have sued a Raleigh hip-hop artist who produced a song promoting the franchise, saying the man has violated team trademarks.

The federal lawsuit accuses Tyrone Banks of misusing trademarks by referring to the tune as "the official Carolina Hurricanes song" and wearing a Hurricanes jersey in promotional material.

Banks produced "Carolina Hurricanes" in 2007 and provided a copy of the song to the team, asking the Hurricanes play the music during games, according to court documents. The lawsuit said the Hurricanes did use the song during games and short segments of it appeared in a television ad and online video.

Banks also received complimentary tickets to a game, when the Hurricanes played the song, highlighted Banks in the audience and displayed his name on the scoreboard.

"Carolina Hurricanes. That's our team, say the name," the song's chorus repeats.

But the Hurricanes say Banks is promoting sales of the song in a way that would incorrectly suggest an affiliation between him and the team.

The Hurricanes sent Banks a cease-and-desist notice in February and he responded by removing the term "official" or "anthem" from his Web site and added disclaimers, according to the suit. But the Hurricanes complained that Banks is still seen wearing a Hurricanes jersey in promotional material and said the franchise has been damaged by the unauthorized use of trademarks.

Neither Banks nor the Hurricanes immediately responded to messages from The Associated Press seeking comment.

The lawsuit filed on Friday said Banks has demanded compensation for the song, claiming that he authorized use of the music only during games so long as the team displayed his name, song title, and name of his record company while the song was playing.

And we wonder why so many Americans think hockey is stupid.

I don't think people think hockey is stupid so much as they don't get it and don't want to invest the time/money/effort into getting it. In my travels, the only people I know who really hate hockey are white guys who like basketball a lot but also feel it's insufficient to just enjoy the sport of basketball without trying to ingratiate themselves to black people (not particular ones so much as an abstract concept of "black people") by hating basketball's so-called opposite. Everyone else falls on a continuum of "I only think the playoffs are good" to "I could watch it" to "whatever."

Also, I think this legal posturing is SOP for any major sports team. The NHL needs the publicity most of all--and among its teams, the lowly Hurricanes can especially use it--but every team in every league would probably request a cease-and-desist in this case, and unfortunately, they probably should.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

I don't even know if I have the authority to do that. Regardless, there it is.
